Patch 9/9/2014
« on: September 09, 2014, 04:16:52 PM »
There is a new patch available. Exit the game and origin, then find the Sims 4 in your library and right click - update. I am testing now to see if they fixed the gardening grafting bug. It's not on the list of changes.

New Adds
  • New decorative object! The High-Rider Gnome has journeyed long from his hidden grotto in the tropics to join you in The Sims 4.  He’s eagerly awaiting your arrival in Build Mode, ready to grace your homes with his feats of stationary flamingo bronco busting!
  • Look for him in Build Mode in the Outdoors or Decorations sorts, or type Gnome in the search box.
  • Sim and object highlights can now be toggled on/off by entering hovereffects on/off in the cheat console (this will eliminate the white border on a Sim or an object when you hover over it to interact).  In addition, you can add -nohovereffects to the Command Line Arguments.  In order to add the argument:
  • Open the Origin client, right click on The Sims 4 game box art, select “View Game Properties”, click “Game Properties”, enter -nohovereffects into the text box, and then click Apply.

Bug Fixes / Issues
  • Fixed an issue with some gallery downloads that were causing the game to hang.
  • Fixed several bugs that would result in incorrect relationship states between Sims.
  • For players using the “cas.fulleditmode” cheat to go back and adjust Sims after they’ve been created, note that using this cheat will still allow you to manually select invalid relationships. Please exercise caution when changing relationships while using this cheat.
  • The automated filtering used for Gallery uploads was unintentionally blocking the words “gay”, “homosexual”, or “homosapien”. It has now been fixed and these terms will not be blocked or prevented.
  • Fixed a crash that would result if a block without walls was saved as a room.

I'm really disappointed (or mad)... the grafting bug remains, so we are still unable to complete the plant list :(

I really like that they fixed the hover effects, I was going bonkers getting that line in my screenshots and was hunting for a mod to fix it. Nice that they added a turn off option.

I am also disappointed that they didn't include the fix for the buggy friend of the world aspiration. I want to have more than 1 BFF!

Maybe I'm being dense but I from the description I don't understand what changed with the cas.fulleditmode cheat.

I think they're warning us that it can still bug out and make 2 Sims siblings or something to that effect. They must be working on a bigger patch. I am just surprised sometimes when they add a new feature and don't address the big problems. That's just me being dense though, should be used to it.  :-X

I don't know if I read it wrong but I took the "cas.fulleditmode” cheat update as:
They fixed the glitch but when using the cheat you can still manually change the relationships if you wanted to but they're just warning you that doing so could make your game have more problems.

Correct me if I'm wrong- That's just how I read it and interpreted it.

I think it's likely you're right. I wasn't that familiar with it. I have played single Sims a lot for testing.

I'm a software engineer (recently moved into quality/testing). The people who are fixing big bugs are not the same people who are adding new gnome objects. Especially at a place as big as EA, developers will have different areas to work on. The new stuff may have been already almost done. They may not be in a position to help with the big bugs.

My company released a complete overhaul of our software about 3 months ago (we had a hard deadline as I was leaving for maternity leave shortly after [We are a 4-person IT team.]). When we got our first bug reports, we were still able to add some new features that were requested, while not being able to fix a bug, because of who can do what on our team.
