Can't save my game !

I have tried around five times to save my game and it doesn't work. It usually takes like 3 minutes or so but the first time this happened, I left it alone.. an hour later it was still trying to save so I force quitted out of my game. I figured it would be ok and I left it alone for a couple of days, redid all of the things I couldn't save before.. was trying to save and again didn't go through. It was trying to save for a half an hour before I force quitted again. I left it alone for another couple of days, only did one or two things, tried to save and I only waited I think for 1O minutes before force quitting. I did that twice in a row btw.

 I'm really not sure how or why this is happening but I have tried clearing my currentgame.sims3 file, my cache, I regularly delete things like some cache files and the images under FeaturedItems, tried restarting my computer, I have recently downloaded cc which may or may not be the problem but I'm not sure how I'd check without deleting them since I haven't used them yet and don't wanna delete something I'm not sure is the issue. but at this point I am starting to feel like I should start over with the sims if they are still under the select a household area but if I do that, is there a way I can use the same house? I'd really rather not start completely from scratch as that house took like 3 hours to build and decorate lol. I'm not the best builder.. so should I save the house to my bin and then get out of the game and delete that file and start over or..? any other suggestions?

Definitely remove the new custom content. I know you are reluctant but it's the best way to check whether it's the CC that's the problem. If the game runs fine, add each piece one by one to see which one is causing the problem. If you still have the same problem, save the house and household to the bin and try placing them in a different time. Also, is it just that file? Are you having the problem in another file?

A few questions come to mind -

How old is your save game (sim weeks/days)? Have you been paying your same save-game for months in real-time?

Have you tried a creating a new game? As a test to see if that may help?

Try starting the game without custom content, by opening the launcher, click the Installed Content Tab. Check mark Run Game Without Custom Content. Then click the Play button.

Removing custom content may help as well. As sometimes CC does mess the game up for whatever reason.

Regardless of that, something that might help is to use Save As, instead of just saving. Giving it a new name or something similar to the old name you had is fine.

It sounds like you were possibly wanting to start a whole new game, but wanting to keep the house and family.
