Does moving a household change the family tree?
« on: August 27, 2014, 09:17:22 PM »
You see, my sims have the glitch where after going on a field trip they can't go to afterschool activites, but I really want them to go to them. One option is to send them on a trip using world adventures, but I don't want to. The other is to move the household out and back in, and I want to know if that changes the family tree.

You could experiment with another town before going through with the move. I did have one game where I moved a sim out via the clipboard and lost her family tree AND her family relationship with her mother. Chances are, if your test family has relations outside the active household, and you move them out of their house with the evict function, something will go wrong.

I would definitely try it first though; my glitches are not your glitches.  :)

Save your game.

Move her to the clipboard and then move her back in again.  See if the problem is fixed AND that she kept her family tree.  If she didn't keep the family tree, exit without saving and reload the save from earlier.

Without a mod, the way to keep family tree info (I think) would be to have all living members in your household (if you can manage that) and any dead you would need to go to the cemetary and put their headstones in your personal inventory.

If you do that, save the game with a new name from the one above.  Move out the whole household.  Move them back in again.  Check that their family tree is intact.  If not, then not sure what to do about the family tree.

If the original problem wasn't fixed either move outs, you might need to consider saving the household to the library and starting them in a fresh new town.
