Sims launcher isn't working

Hi all,
I had Sims 3 + Ambitions and then I had to reinstall it after some problems I couldn't solve. My computer wouldn't read the disk and an "autoplay" for mixed media kept appearing but no launcher. So, I redownloaded my games from Origin. I don't think it's a compatibility issue because I used to play Ambitions on my laptop all the time.

Can someone help me figure out why the Sims 3 Ambitions launcher won't appear? (when I load the ambitions game by double clicking the icon, it loads the base game only).

That sounds like your drive is having problems reading the disc and hasn't installed it properly.

Check and see if you do have an ambitions folder wherever you install The Sims 3. (For PC it'll be C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Ambitions as default on 32-bit windows, C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Ambitions as default on 64-bit windows).

If that's there, then it sounds like the appropriate entries are missing from your system registry. So even though it's on the hard drive, the PC doesn't "know" it is. If you're using a Mac... then I'm afraid I'm stumped and just wasted your time. >_>

does this bypass work if the origin launcher is being used and all games and worlds are downloaded?

I... actually don't know on that one.

I'm leaning towards "No", because Origin is essentially the "CD" as far as the game is concerned. You could give it a try though If it doesn't work, you may need a mod to do it.
