Oppurtunities Being Ignored?

Did a search for this and it has come up before but I wasn't able to find a solution. Apparently this issue is caused by Into The Future.

Basically, the phone rings and my sim can ignore it, no opportunity comes up on the screen as it would usually. It could of course have just been another sim calling, but my sim at this point in the game didn't know anybody. I also know it's an opportunity issue because even when my sim answers, nothing happens. She isn't talking to another sim, but no opportunity prompt comes up on the screen either. It has now been weeks in game and she has never gotten a single opportunity in spite of having learned lots of skill points.

I don't have suppressed opportunities ticked, and this happens in all of my files. Is there any way to fix this that doesn't involve uninstalling Into The Future? It'd be a bit of a waste of money if I had to uninstall it just to get this pretty integral feature of the game...

Unfortunately EA doesn't bother to fix this bug.  Uninstalling Into the Future is the only way to get all those opportunities phone calls back -- you can do it the manual way (uninstall from your PC) or use sim game selector.  You have to choose between opportunities or "into the future", can't have both.

In my game, opportunities get rejected if the sim answers the phone but if I ignore it, the opportunity window pops up. It means you don't get any social things but I personally don't mind because I'm not into socialising that much.

So, everyone that has ITF has this bug? What about the opportunities that came with Into The Future, I guess no one ever gets to play them? Might there be a mod or something that fixes this? I'll uninstall Into The Future for now, thanks for your help.

I have ITF installed and I don't have this problem.  I usually just ignore the phone calls and the opportunity pops up.  If the call is from a sim, the sim that is calling, their picture usually shows up in the top left corner and then I will get the message to see if my sim wants to talk to that sim or not.

I have tried answering and ignoring the phone calls, and in both cases nothing happens. Although, if this isn't happening to everyone that does imply that this can be fixed somehow. I'm tempted to try and have a crack at the code but I don't know a whole lot about modding and I wouldn't know what to look for.

I also have ITF and have not experienced this bug.

I have ITF and I do not have this issue if it is ITF related (Laser Rhythm-A-Con, ITF careers), or if it is rabbithole career related. I do not get them for skills or self employment.

I also have ITF and don't have this issue.

Make sure you've patched your game. I used the 1.67 super patch.

There are two* ITF opportunities which could trigger a phone call in the present and since they are only valid in the future world your Sim will decline them. You could turn off those faulty calls by altering the Opportunities_EP11 tuning file.

*or more than 30 from WA if you are at university or in the future.

I have this issue with ITF, fully patched. Uninstalled the game to do my immortal dynasty - which I figure it's not really a loss because I wasn't planning on going into the future or using any of the new skills. Being without the precious all-in-one bathroom, however...

But yeah all of my sims would do the "no no ABSOLUTELY NOT!" dance when answering their phones and after about a sim week (this was unusual for me) they'd had no skill opps, despite building lots and lots of skills.

On the bright side, I was also unbothered by annoying calls to chat from other sims in general, but I digress.

I've since got a couple celebrity opps (still nowhere near as common as they used to be) and the Alchemy Master opp once my sim reached level 10. I have completely patched up the game so that's nothing to do with it.

For now I'm using the Game Selector to run everything but ITF, but this is really annoying, this is almost a game-ruining bug as it's quite ridiculous to have to uninstall an entire EP just to use an integral feature of the game. I don't really know where to start in terms of modding it myself though I may try.

I agree with you 100%.  If you (or anyone else) were to ever figure out a way to tune the game to not do this anymore, that would be so awesome.
