Cheat won't work

Not sure if this is the right place. I've just used the testing cheat and I can raise the bars up and down but I can't right click the mailbox or cheat on the lifetime rewards. I downloaded ambitions the other day and had a quick go and I could click on the mailbox. I've started again, and it didn't help. I put in the cheat then turned the cheat off then on still didn't work.

I've just got the mailbox working just not the rewards. I've gone back to the main menu and put the cheat in there but still not working.

For the Happiness Points Cheat (or whatever you call them) you need to:

1. enter a neighborhood like Riverview ect.
2. choose a household to play or make move in your new sim,
3. type testingcheatsenabled on
4. save the game and exit to main menu
5. choose that same or another game that you want to modify with the Lifetime points cheat
6. hold down the CTRL key and click with the mouse the right bottom of the Lifetime happiness Points number.
7. every click with the mouse gives you 500 Happiness Points.

You can eliminate most of these steps by simply initially putting in testingcheatsenabled true right at the Main Menu before starting a game. Works for a brand new game too. If you're at the Main Menu, do the cheat, and then start a brand new file — you're good to go with those Sims to give them the magic happiness points when they plop down on a lot.

I have never used this cheat before until last night.  I also had problems with it.  It works fine for a few, then nothing works except sliding the needs bar.  I do start it on the main menu before starting my game.  Is there a thread that throughly describes how to use testingcheats and how to troubleshoot when it does not work? 

I have Barnacle Bay, moved a Sim onto the deserted island, was teleporting from home to the mainland when I could no longer teleport.  I didn't think I was doing anything wrong.  Also I was never able to get the happiness points to work.

I have used it. Lots and Lots!

Just enter
testingcheatsenabled true at the main manu.
Start a new game and away you go, all you need for the Happiness cheats is a Loading Screen, it can also be activated by travelling.

Infinite Lifetime Rewards (Lifetime Happiness Points)
Make your Sim and get them into their house. Save the game once they're moved in, then head back to the main menu. Before you load your Sims 3 saved game again, open the cheat console (Control + Shift + C) and type testingcheatsenabled true. Once you load your Sims game, the testing cheats will still be on. This will allow you to go to the lifetime rewards tab, then control click in the area around the treasure chest icon. The game should be unpaused to do this, or it may appear to not be working. Each click will give your Sim an additional 500 lifetime happiness points. Click away, you've got infinite reward points to spend! Go out and snag that Food Replicator.

That is Carl's way but I prefer the way Metro and I use, as it involves less loading time.

When the game loads, and before you choose the family you want to play, type in control+shift+c all at the same time. A little bar you can type in comes up type testingcheatsenabled space true then hit enter. They are now activated and you can choose any family or even a new game and play with cheats enabled.

I only tried these cheats for the first time tonight.  I followed the instructions on Carl's Guide and didn't have any trouble at all.

Ha, I didn't even know you could adjust the happiness points! I've been doing a test in Barnacle Bay and have made needs static, but I wanted the collection helper so I have been madly trying to get enough points lol. Anyway, I had a little trouble at first with getting the points to go up. I tried it by putting the cheat in while in the game then saving and exiting to the main menu and then returning into the game. For some reason this did not work, but when I went to the main menu, then put the cheat in and then back into the game it did work.
