Plumbots: Sentience Vs. Solar Power
« on: October 27, 2013, 12:45:35 PM »
Has anyone else equipped these traits yet?

My Plumbot has the following traits: Office Drone, Algorithmic Artist, Solar Power, Musical Machine, Limitless Learning, Sentience.

Her Battery Power was low so I sent her outside to paint under the assumption that the Solar Power chip would power her back up. However, her Battery Power kept draining. It was Summer in Utopia during daylight hours.

Does Sentience conflict with Solar Power? I.e. if a Plumbot is Sentient, it will need sleep or a charging station to power back up instead of Solar Power? I clicked on couches and beds and she had the option to sleep/nap. I ended up putting her back on her charging station for now.

ETA: Perhaps Solar Power is bugged. I have my Plumbot out excavating in the wastes and I unequipped the Sentience chip and Batter Power is still going down. I'm going to unequp/re-equip Solar Power and see if that works.

Not sure about the Solar Power being bugged. I have two gardener bots that both have solar power and they don't need to spend much (if any ) time on the charger.  I had thought it wasn't working in one, but then I discovered that I hadn't equipped her with it lol. I do have a bot with Sentience and Solar Power, but he goes about doing things and I don't really take much attention to him. When I play later today, I'll watch him for a while and see if he does charge.

Solar Power was definitely not working in that Plumbot. I'm going to make a new one and see what happens then. I don't have any mods and very little cc. But I did travel back and forth with that particular Plumbot and there are bugs associated with that.

Perhaps painting drains power, while the solar chip can only provide +10 energy per hour. If I knew the drain from painting, I could tell you but I think that Efficient would go well with it and perhaps make Solar more effective.

Well I was going to check my bot with sentience and solar power, but when I loaded up my game, all his trait slots were empty!! My garden bots are definitely charging in the sun though.

I noticed something buggy, I created a new bot with just the cleaning chip alone (no solar powered chip). and he got the solar recharge moodlet outside.

I wonder if Solar Powered is actually buggy. I have IP in addition to ITF, so my plumbots have the option to "Relax" on random level ground. I had the one bot who was equipped with Solar Power chip Relax by the pool for several hours, and while she got the moodlet, her battery level didn't rise by any significant amount. On the other hand it didn't drop at all either.
