Cursed! Adventure

OK, first post. I have had the Cursed! quest only once and had to quit it all because I don't know how to plead to the Sphinx. How do you plead to the Sphinx? Any help is much appreciated.

I did check that, many times. But what I'm in the dark about is how you actually plead with the sphinx. I did the quest, made it to the soulpeace and cleansed, but I got no cinematic and the quest was still there, telling me to "plead" with the sphinx. So I'm confused, I must be missing something, or maybe my tomb wasn't reset properly. An additional issue, I don't think my tombs are resetting properly for each new explorer. This current Sim had a grandfather who explored, now two generations later, I have to do the quests to find keys, but once I'm in the tomb, all puzzles are in there solved states. This doesn't happen to all the tombs, a few reset, but the biggies don't. Has anyone else had this issue? Maybe this tomb not being reset didn't register with the quest tracker. What do you guys think?

Once you have someone in your current save file/family solve one of the tombs, it is solved for all others in that same save file/family.  So Grandpa already solved explored some tombs, those tombs will continue to be solved and will not reset to pristine condition so that his granddaughter can solve them.  I hope this makes sense.

As Saltypaws said, only one sim in an entire neighbourhood can solve the big tombs. They won't reset for anyone else unless you start a new game in a new neighbourhood. Or move your sim to a different neighbourhood (which I have found resets the tombs but not the quests).

As for pleading to the sphynx, have you tried clicking the sphynx statue in the final big room? There should be an option if you click that, if I remember correctly. Your sim, when you click the correct option, will meditate before the sphynx statue and there will be a light show and your sim will be cured.

thank you wildredchild for solving that niggling issue. It seems strange why the tombs don't reset completely. Anyway, thank you. I have recently discovered that pleading to the sphinx actually happens outside, before you go into the tomb. There should be an icon above or around the sphinx that lets you plead. For some reason, possibly a bug in my game, it doesn't show, even when I'm on the Cursed! quest.

to pallyndrome: I have mediated to the Soulpeace statue, but no 'plead' action was displayed, like I said above, and the place I read it had a screenshot, that you plead outside to the sphinx, which then, I guess opens the door to the sphinx allowing you to seek cleansing.

I will have to try and see and if not, avoid the Cursed! quest.

Thanks guys though, for your help and support. ;D

Pleading to the Sphinx does happen outside - just click on one of the 'paws' for the 'pleading' action to begin.  The 'pleading' action  allows you entry and gives you a 'shortcut' to the Soulpeace statue by way of the front door.
You can also step on the trigger located under the scaffolding outside of the Sphinx (and to its rear).   This entrance is a direct path to the Soulpeace statue via a back door entrance.  ;)
You might want to try replacing the Sphinx lot (or all tombs for that matter) from a clean game for your future generations to explore.  This will not reset the quests (at least it isn't supposed to, but I have noticed a few quests being repeated for later generations in a couple of my games) but it will allow future generations the fun of exploring some of the tombs.
I believe this will also allow the 'pleading and cleansing' actions to behave like it did for your past generations.   ;D

yes i forgot that the 'pleading' is done outside first. But I found you still have to meditate in front of the sphynx once you're inside and wait for the light show before your sim is actually cured. And once you've pleaded once outside, I'm not sure that it's necessary for future sims to plead before meditating at the sphynx inside to be cured.

That's correct Hannah.  The tomb will have been breached so future Sims can just walk right in and head directly to the Soulpeace statue.  Pleading to the Sphinx is neat to watch though!

Thanks guys. Yes, I have managed to plead successfully and enjoyed the full majesty of the light show. Very cool.

mtglady - I never thought about replacing the tombs. I will have to try that in another neighbourhood before I try it in my proper one.
