Flickr or Photobucket?
« on: June 10, 2014, 04:47:36 PM »
Can I use Flickr to upload game images to the forum (and if so, how?), or do I have to use Photobucket? I only ask because I put everything on Flickr first before realizing most forum users host at Photobucket. Thanks in advance.

We don't care what image host you use. Some prefer Photobucket, some don't.

As long as it hosts the image, you're fine using Flickr (I use photobucket, only because i've had it for ages and just don't feel like trying to switch XD).  To embed an image into a post, you use img brackets:   Just put the url of the image in between the two sets of brackets.

For example:
Code: [Select]

Okay, testing...

Hmmm I have the following text "https://www.flickr.com/photos/124462349@N08/13970080877/in/set-72157644656659453/" (without quotes and in between img brackets) immediately above this, but it's not displaying the picture.

Testing using Photobucket instead:

What permissions do you have set for the photo?

Also, photobucket makes it easy for you to get the correct coding.  With the image up, simply click in the "Link to Share" box that is beside IMG.  That will automatically copy the correct coding and you just past that here in your message.

From what I can tell, you need to change your sharing options for Flickr.  There is a button for sharing, but it looks like the correct link you'd need is unavailable, at least to me, so I can't even test it for ya.

I prefer imgur, I've been using it for three to four months now and have had no problems nor seen anyone else have problems with it.
