When To Harvest Plants?

Hello.

I got 2 new expansions: Seasons and Supernatural. One of my Sims, Tommy, is in the Scientist Profession. He has a garden and planted apple trees, vegetables and alchemy/elixir ingredients.

I've noticed I get this when checking on the plants:









What does dormant mean? I cant harvest plants when plant says harvest. Pictures were taken during Spring and I thought it would be warm enough to harvest the alchemy/elixir plants and the others.

Is this an error?

Plants can still be dormant in spring, because the weather can still get cold in spring. If the plants stay that way into the summer, then you might have a problem.

Now, there is a known bug that leaves plants stuck in the Harvest state, but makes them unharvestable. This is associated with a variety of things, such as a fairy's Bloom ability, having the Gatherer trait, and other things. The plants usually aren't shown frosted over, though.

This just looks like it's too cold to harvest. Hover your cursor over the flower by the game clock and it will show you the temperature. If it's close to freezing, the plants will remain dormant, which just means they are still alive, but not producing.

I managed to harvest plants while they were dormant the other day. Some were not ready to harvest, so there were no options, but the ones that were ready had "harvest" and I could do it. Make sure you click on the ones that are ready to be harvested while dormant, as opposed to "tend garden"
