Can't get a different Butler
« on: May 15, 2014, 03:53:17 PM »
Hey guys,

I've seen some great help topics here and on the site and your community seems very resourceful, so I thought I'd come for help here.

Basically, I recently started a game in Starlight Shores after having enjoyed Bridgeport for a while, and after my Sims finally moved to a nicer house, I decided to hire a butler.

The Butler I got was a female called Yolanda, but I remember in Bridgeport I had this great guy who wore a monocle and had this whole British Butler down to a T and wore a monocle. So I tried re-hiring, but Yolanda kept coming back - she seems to be one of the default NPC Sims from the neighbourhood.

I really wanted the monocle the Bridgeport Butler had, then I tried editing her in CAS thanks to a cheat to fill the archetype I wanted, but despite 'unlockoutfits on' the monocle wasn't anywhere in there (I made her an Adult male). On top of that, the Butler now mostly wears his Everyday clothes, and the "Work" tab isn't even accessible in CAS.

I tried resetsim and re-hiring over and over, it wouldn't change anything. I just get used-to-be-Yolanda-now-Dorian-the-male-Butler over and over. Then I figured maybe it has something to do with the fact that the neighbourhood is not Bridgeport, but if that's the case, is there any way for me access/enable the Bridgport Butlers in my neighbourhood, and if that's impossible, could I at least get the Butler to wear his work outfit?

Any help appreciated!

Edit: I just wanted to mention I saw a mod that enables monocles for all Sim gender and ages, but I'm nervous about CC and mods - when I tried using some store content it pretty much broke my game completely.

Edit 2: The Butler I edited does seem to be wearing Work outfit on occasion (since Edit in CAS... cheat doesn't always work) but it's not the original Butler outfit and, just some random clothes - really want to fix that, even if I forego the monocle!

The way I would try to fix it is to copy my household to the library and start a new game in a fresh Starlight Shores.  Then hire a butler again.  You might get Yolanda again, but it might generate a new one.

OR try shift clicking on your butler and Delete.  Then hire a new one.

Thank you Delena, deleting worked! Now I'd like to edit his appearance to make him look older, but I'm worried that might mess up his work outfit again. Any ideas? Maybe unlocking the ability to change his work outfit?

You could try just editing his looks in CAS and don't touch clothing.  Maybe then his work outfit won't get messed up.

I think butlers are already at the Adult stage, so anything older would make him an elder.  Is that what you want?
