Sticking with one sims family
« on: April 29, 2014, 11:35:53 AM »
I have a bad habit of getting my Sim married or some kind of big milestone like that and making a new one. I just haven't made a Sim that I want to stick with yet. Although I do not think it has to do with the Sims, the one thing I am terrible at, like so bad I should be banned, is making houses. I see all these beautiful houses and see all the potential of them but I can't make one. I have the idea of what I want, just cant make it. Any tips on making a RL house (or one from a tv show, the Halliwell manor) into a Sims home?

Welcome to our Forum.

I'm a little confused.  Your subject says "Sticking with one sims family", but your post gets around to wanting to build houses.  What exactly are you asking help for?  I may need to move this thread for you.

Ok, no problem.  If you want to make it about building a house, you'll need to change the subject and then I can move it.  Or do you want to ask something about sticking with one Sim family?

I get attached to my sims. My solution is the age freeze potion. I think I played the save I have now for what must work out to a few solid days before I started controlling another house (I saved them to the bin for when I want them back), partly because controlling even 3 or 4 people is a stretch for me after a while.

For building houses, the challenge for me is the start. I'd suggest starting out as small as you can. Rather than focus on building something really big or fancy, go for something a bit smaller to start and focus on making a house that flows nicely and meets your aesthetic tastes. Once I'm living in a house, I find it is much easier to change the house than it is to create one from scratch.

deysong,

I've found that challenges like Pinstar's Legacy and our own Immortal Dynasty help keep me focused on one particular family. You can find rules for the Immortal Dynasty and other dynasty challenges in the Challenge Section on our Forum. Pinstar's Legacy can be found on the official forum.

As for houses, I'm terrible, too. If I have to build my own, I usually use the blueprints -- inelegant, but they get the job done.

We have a building request thread (link below). So you can ask for someone to build a house for you based on your design or inspiration. Keep in mind that you may not like what you get, but it's worth a shot. We have some fantastic builders.
