Community Lot Guide
« on: January 06, 2011, 06:00:08 PM »
I wanted to suggest a new addition to the guide.  With all the expansions installed, for me at least, it has been a real head scratcher when making community lot.  There are just so many of them now, that figuring out what each community lot type IS or is for is a real challenge.  So I wanted to propose the idea for a guide to be made that summarizes the different collection of lots.  I mean, do certain community lots have different items in them for build/buy than others?  Other than the bars and lounges having location specific drinks/foods, I just don't know the differences between some of the lots, or if there is even anything special about the different designations for community lots.

It just gets hard to know, when I make a lot, should it be labeled as park, or visitors allowed, or hangout, or whatever.  You know what I mean?

So yeah, a guide that could help explain what the different community lots are would be nice.  I hope the idea will be considered.

I agree, that would be very useful to many players, especially ones how would like to get into building.

That's seems pretty possible. Perhaps I could do it in the next few days. Must check on the consistency of what I know, and how demmanding this guide would be, though.

I should be able to get back to writing content within the next couple of weeks. If no one takes it up, I will. I think it's a fabulous idea.

*grins*  happy to be able to contribute an idea.  Now if I could just finish flushing out an idea for a challenge to propose.

It actually seems unecessary, as the wiki covers pretty much everything about what each lot type does.

Thanks for the link. You may be right.

I love having google search at the guide, covering the forum. Within a few days this topic will show up in results and point people there.

A summary type of article could be helpful though, as much of the info is spread out. I'll add it to the agenda just in case I decide to take it up.

Have you all seen this blog?  It's Summer's Little Sims 3 Garden Spot.  It has pictures and lists of all community lots in several of the EA worlds.  I was looking for something like that and found this thread.  I went to the Wiki, and still couldn't find what I was looking for.  Somehow,  I came across this link.  She's done a LOT of work!!

I thought maybe it would help someone.   ;D

I see that she has! Thanks for sharing so that people who find this will be able to use the link. I obviously never got around to making that, but should definitely focus a bit more on edit town-type information for Sims 4. After all, it's part of setting up the gameplay and many people find it difficult to use or don't know what the many lot types do :)
