My Sim is incapable of fixing Breakfast - Resolved
« on: April 09, 2014, 04:17:08 AM »
I just don't get it. I started with the very basic of Cooking needs (fridge, stove, cooking surfaces), even got the Sim's Cooking skill to 1, so it won't burn the house down. Yet he refuses to cook. Everytime, all I get is the "Clean Up" button, and get yelled at by the game for wasting food.

The first time, he just lays the food down and does nothing. I have plenty of counters to do food, but like I said, the only option is to Clean Up.
2nd time, I got him a food processor. This seemed to be working, until after using it, and now he won't go any further. What's worse (and also humorous at the same time). The bowl of pancake batter is stuck to his hand. Even when going to work all the way to washing his dog, having his left hand a bowl of pancake batter.

Who would've known, that playing legit is hard. :P

First, where did you click when you got the Clean Up option? Do you have any appliances from the Store on your lot (I heard they often interfere with stoves and fridges)?

p.s. Being at skill level 1 doesn't eliminate random stove fires. It just changes the base chance (modified by stove tuning) from 33 % to 25 % (and even at level 10 it's still 2 %). Some stoves, however, are set no never catch fire while cooking.

Have you tried replacing the stove? That was what worked for me when I had that problem. If I remember correctly, I had to use the testingcheatsenabled true and then delete object. It seems the game thought the stove was still being used by another sim. Even though it wasn't.

I had bowl stuck to my sim's hand yesterday.  I switched to her and clicked on the bowl and it said "Continue Cooking".  It turned out to be Autumn Salad.:)

Alright, guys. Happy to report it was a mod causing this to happen. It was settings I made in StoryProgression. Apparently turning off skills for the household, doesn't keep learned skills. So my Sim didn't know how to make Breakfast.

He does now. Everything works exactly as it should. Thanks to all.
