Is it possible to know the LTW of a non-household sim?

Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to know the LTW of a non-household sim. For example spamming the action "get to know" reveals the traits and favourite food of non-household sims but to my knowledge it does not reveal the LTW. Is there another action or game mechanic which shows the LTWs of other sims?
I'm asking because my playstyle is to help the sims to complete their wishes and thus I would like to know their LTW before I add them to the household (and get "Emperor of Evil" for the 5th time...)

Welcome to our Forum.

A Sim that you do not control will never achieve a Lifetime Wish.  They don't even accumulate happiness points.  The only way to know their Lifetime Wishes is to either take control of the Sim or find the information outside the game, like on one of our townie threads.  It's just that the game is designed so that the other Sims in town can interact with your Sim, but they don't do anything of their own unless you have control.  I hope you find this helpful.

To add what Pam said. One of the Nraas mods, can show you alot of info, also lifetime wish I think its the masterController

If you watch their thought bubbles, sometimes they'll think about their LTWs - the podium for leader of the free world, the atom for level 9 scientist, pile of rocks with a shovel for gold digger, etc. You'd have to know what the little icon is for a given LTW though. The other methods listed here of finding this out are much easier and more of a sure thing.

Even if the mod will let you see the LTW, you won't be able to have any influence over it from the outside, as far as I know.

Although I've never seen LTW thought bubbles on non-household sims, are they rare? Or am I just unlucky?

By the way, there is one of the Mastercontroller modules that allows knowing and changing of LTWs of NPCs, I sometimes use it. But it feels like cheating thus I decided to ask if there is another build-in game mechanic to get to know the LTW.

This way is a lot less efficient, but if you were to find out all the traits of the Sims you can deduce a general idea of what LTW they have (if they're not an original townie and you can't double check). Like if you have a Good, Workaholic, Light Sleeping, Grumpy, Artistic Sim (just listing off random traits at the top of my head) you'll likely run into the World Renowned Surgeon, or any artistic lifetime wish (as those are the 5 that tend to come up.
It's not even close to being accurate, but it might help for some of the bigger wishes (like avoiding Evil/Mean Spirited/Grumpy Sims to avoid the chance of redoing the Emperor of Evil Lifetime wish).

Also, if you have a genie in your household you can "Ensorcel" a sim for a few short hours which lets you view all of their traits and lifetime wish without permanently adding them to the household. Those are the only tips I have for figuring out LTWs.

For what Livvie said about traits, the five LTWs that come from the traits aren't always the same, but can have a little variation. But, you can go to CAS,  make a sim with the same traits as the townie whose wish you're trying to solve, and see what comes up to have at least a general idea of what it COULD be.

You can also try using the Google search at the tip of the forum page for the town you are in or googling the person you are interested in. I have used SimWiki as well to look up different families and Sims.

Several days late in responding this, but Edit Town will help.  Go into edit town in a previous save and choose to switch to the family that sim lives in.  If they are NPC they won't show up.   If they are townies you can become a member of the family and see the LTW, traits, skills, relationship, RI; all of the information for all the family members. 

Just exit without saving and you have the info you want.

Adding to what Janna said,  I've used edit town on many occassions.  Also, If you tutor in a particular subject, the sim can continue to gain skill levels.  You can tutor all the way if you want, very time consuming though.  The townie gets the blue learning bar.  If you go back to edit town and check on their progress you'll see how much they've gained.  I do that all the time for the musical skills (although I don't check on their progress - I can see and hear it).  I like to have several townies able to jam/blues with my sim on different instruments.  I only have to give them one skill level and they learn and continue to gain.  It doesn't take long to have a good sounding jam session.  I've also discovered that townies become better at athletic skill on their own without tutoring but it takes time.

I didn't know that about the musical skills, glad to learn about that.  I have had only a couple of sims go the music route and I don't have the expansion pack where they would perform in public as a group, but hope to get it sometime in the future.
Need a better computer to do so but would love to have Generations and Ambitions.

I think that you can simply use testingcheatsenabled on, shift/click on the sim and then go to Cas. There you can see the traits and the LTW without adding him to your household.

I just earn enough points to change traits and LTW!!  Doesn't really matter where they start out then...
