Sounds won't stop

I'm trying to remember when it first started, I think it was when my eldest sim got his lifetime want.  But the notification sounds (ie, promotion, skill up, that sort of thing) won't stop.  I have shut down the game a couple times, but it didn't matter.  I don't know what to do, it's so annoying that I don't want to play this family anymore, should I try and sell things and move their lots?

Evict them in EditTown mode and put on another lot or the same one and see if the sound bug is gone.  If not, try another solution, by changing the active household with another one from the town to play, and after that return to your first one to check it out .
