Fire Chief's Home Alarm ... Gone! (Bug / Glitch)

I was modifying my Level 10 (Fire Chief) Firefighter's home yesterday, and noticed today the "Install at Home Community Fire Alarm" has disappeared!

He's still got his "Woo Woo 4000" Firetruck. I was moving walls around yesterday (working on a rooftop garden), and I know I moved the wall the alarm was installed on (it was outside, near the entrance to the home). Now it's gone, which is a bummer.

I've checked in the "buydebug" area, and don't see it, and I've checked several place on the intarwebz but found nothing of help.

Anyone seen this before? Anyone have any idea of how I might trick or force the game to give me a new Fire Alarm?

Is this something you got as a reward for working in the Firefighter career?

Yep, Pam; at Level 10 as a reward you get the "Woo Woo" Firetruck and an alarm (it looks just like the ones in the Fire House). It's not the "regular" fire alarm normally installed in houses. Like the Fire Station one, it requires maintenance.

It allows a Firefighter Sim to "work from home" (respond to community emergencies just as if they were in at the Fire House / Fire Station). He's been able to use it once on a weekend, the alarm went off he headed off to put out the small house fire.

Everything seems to be working "fine" as far as the game's concerned, my Sim just responded to his first earthquake (three house fires in a row / clear rubble / put out "Gas Leak"), but he was already at the Fire House.

My Sim's a work-a-holic, so he'd rather actually be at the fire station anyway rather than at home during "work hours" ... I'm just bummed my remodeling looks like it destroyed / glitched out my "Stay at Home" Fire alarm.

Have you tried restoring a previous save?  Maybe the alarm is still there in a previous version.  I don't think you'd be able to replace it anywhere in the game, though.  That would be like trying to replace the Minus One Kelvin refrigerator that's gained by reaching level 10 of the culinary career.  It's just not possible, as far as I know.

Maybe you can "cheat" it back into your game.  Pam using the kelvin one fridge made me think of this.  Use testingcheatsenabled true to be able to click on your mailbox and then you can choose your career and what level your sim will be.  If you click on culinary, then level 10, you get a new fridge.  I imagine that it would be the same for your firefighter.  Good luck!

Pam, I didn't have a save with the exterior alarm. I'm pretty good about saving before vacations, changing the household, and so on ... but I didn't notice anything amiss two days ago when I stopped playing (so my save overwrote the one where the alarm was outside).

Wildredchild, awesome idea! I don't cheat much, but since the game "stole" my alarm from me I figured it was legal to trick it into giving me one back using the "testingcheatsenabled true" then "Career" trick.

Unfortunately, I didn't see any of the "Ambitions" Careers available (No Firefighter, Sculptor, Ghost-Hunter, etc.). So that was a bust.

Ah well. As I said, he's a work-a-holic so he'd rather be at the Fire House anyhow. I'll just be extra careful next time I play a fire fighter Sim to watch that alarm like a hawk!

Oh wow. I thought I was the biggest cheater and knew all the cheats. But I have to say, I did NOT know about that! I'm trying to get that fridge and have been doing it the old fashioned way! HAHA guess who's gonna get shiny new fridge in about 5 minutes??

I found that out by accident a while back and a few sims have that fridge now.  I like to get it the usual way, but what the heck, might as well get it while we can.  The new professions are not on there like you said Happytime, I found that out too.  Oh well, worth a shot.
