Unable to edit town

I'm playing a particular game but I can't edit the town. It says "You cannot enter Edit Town while the social worker is dropping off a new pet for your household"

I'm not adopting a pet I've even put a pet up for adoption to try & cancel it out but it hasn't worked.
I've tried resetsim but that didn't work.

Any other suggestions please?

I fixed it! I did resetsim * and it worked
