The Parts of Speech ID Reboot - To the Graveyard please
« on: November 18, 2015, 03:56:58 PM »
Dear esteemed members of the Carl and Pam's The Sims Forum,

So yeah, I'm rebooting them. I've thought long and hard and the three mortal oldies who are taking their time to die together with the new patch to enable an EA approved way of not loading all expansion packs/stuff packs means I can do this without having to worry about the ITF bug regarding skill challenges has 'encouraged' me to make this decision. It does mean I do without all in one bathrooms (I have neither island paradise nor 70's, 80's 90's stuff installed) but I'd rather not have to worry about changing careers to get challenges.

As far as expansion and stuff packs I am using, they'll be world adventure, generations, late night, university life, showtime, supernatural, ambitions and high end loft stuff. I really don't like seasons, pets and island paradise.

The Parts of Speech are moving from Sunset Valley (they didn't appreciate the way that some in town started sentences with 'And') and are going to be based in Twinbrook.

These guys started last time without showtime, so I'm redoing the founder (in all but name) as I think I may want her to have either hairstyle or outfits from Showtime. :)

Regards,

Dek Hardin

PS Someone wise once said something along the lines of 'before I found out how to do it, I discovered plenty of ways of how not to do it, but kept on going'. So maybe after all my practices at this, I have learnt enough regarding things to avoid.

PPS I will be continuing to play the original Parts of Speech, just to see what ends up happening with them.

I'm glad that you're back. I really like the new selector, and am in agreement with your EP selection. I re-installed Seasons, why I don't know, because I immediately unchecked it.

Finding Friends and Helpers

Verb Grammar is the founder. She has artistic, rebel, avant garde, friendly and loves the outdoors as her traits. Her supermax is going to be Street Art and her life time wish is to be Street Credible. However no sim can achieve the tasks required for immortality without helpers and/or friends, so Verb headed off to the Rue de Sterling to ask a Riddle.

No, not the type of riddle where you ask a joke and get an answer, but rather the famous crime novelist, Anna-liza Riddle, who has moved to Twinbrook in her latter years to spy on her neighbours and use their lives to add colour to her books. She is hated/disliked by some in town, but she is liked by others, and this like has become friendships and best friendships in some cases. This is something that Verb and her Watcher are going to use. Anna-liza returns to the Grammar family plot of land (which currently consists of sleeping bags, a mini fridge, a table, chairs, a painting easel and bathroom facilities) and puts in a call to a best friend of hers, he agrees to visit her in her new home. As she's doing so, she's also meeting her wishes, and the household soon becomes the owner of a new bookshelf and an idea for a sci fi book enters her head. Anna-liza will be spending her time writing book for money to help build up the bank balance a bit while also completing as many of her wishes as possible.

Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Verb makes a new friend! Mr Goodwin Goode and Verb hit it off straight away, and after a meal at the boxcar diner, he agrees to move in, give up his career as a police officer, and dreams of being a fireman superhero, to sculpt and to potentially be the father to generation 2. Pleased with her efforts, Verb returns to the plot of land and begins to brighten the place up a bit with her street art kit.

Ms Riddle meets Justin Keyes when he arrives at the Grammar property. They are already best friends and so it doesn't take much for him to agree to move in and take care of upgrading things around the property, particularly the household's latest acquisition, the lower end version of the brain enhancing machine. Once things around the property are upgraded, Justin will be gardening and fishing.

Justin has his own friendship circle, one member of which is Amy Bull. Amy agrees to visit him, and before long, she too is a member of the Grammar household. She is chained to the easel alongside Goodwin at the sculpting station.
OOPS - I forgot about a picture of Amy.

Five members of the household, four young adults, three women, two men and one elder. At this stage, things are progressing well for the rebooted Grammar family. Oh, and Verb picked up her first opportunity - a commission to beautify the town with some street art. She set up outside the hospital and produced some street art for the mothers and other patients to view as they are giving birth/getting better.

Cloning Around for Fun of Prophets.

Greetings to all and here is the next entry in the Grammar Family Reboot!

As a young adult, Anna-liza Riddle wanted children more than anything. She dated them all from DeAndra Wolfe, to Harwood Clay, and even Max Racket in Twinbrook, before focusing on her career in journalism. When her in-person dating didn't get into anything serious, she turned to online dating, befriending men from other towns, including Lucky Perkins from Riverview, the much younger Gobias Koffi (and his father, Gaylord) from Sunset Valley and Pappy Wolff from Moonlight Falls. During a visit to Moonlit Falls, Anna-liza went to the fortune teller and was told that she would indeed have a daughter, she just had to live life and all would be write (pun intended). Anna-liza went home happy with that news and set up a girl's bedroom in her house.

Anna-liza fell out of the dating scene, removed her profile from the dating sites, and became reclusive. She focused heavily on work, and also on the art of writing mysteries. She retired from work and became an elder. In the twilight of her life, she realised that she didn't have a child, and now she wouldn't be able to have a child naturally.

Could she adopt? It didn't seem so. She applied, but her applications were rejected.

She turned to Science. Ever since Lloyd the Llama was cloned successfully in the science labs at uni, there were reports of sims being cloned. She didn't have funding for that, also she had no real interest in science.

Her research into cloning showed a different path. For those who were willing to meet a range of wishes, and to report the findings to the science lab in Twinbrook, a ticket to meet their wishes to continue their line would be provided. She wished to purchase and then play at a hopscotch court, and so she did.

She worked hard at her writing and moved in with a young lady, Verb Grammar. She swapped life time wishes from becoming a star news anchor to being a professional author. She set about writing books. By the time she was 91, (watcher's note: Sunday week 2) she had met her life time wish, had written 16 books, including 5 best sellers and 4 hits, and was a specialist comic book writer. More importantly she had a clone voucher. Knowing that death could be just around the corner for her, she took the household's motorbike, 'The Beast' down to the science lab that night and exchanged the voucher for a child clone of her, Mepidauna Riddle (watcher's note: Spanish for Ask me a). Then the fun began.

Mepiduana played tag with her elderly mother.

Mepiduana spent time with each of her 'aunts' and 'uncles', including being tutored by Justin.

The household had now become six. 1 elder, 4 young adults and 1 child.

In other Grammar Household news:
- Goodwin became a father to a girl, Aubrey Jones-Brown, who was given neurotic and easily impressed as traits by the game. Goodwin is 9 ice sculptures away from carving unmelting ice statues.
- Amy is at 14 paintings completed and level 8 painting. I'm thinking Amy will be starting off as photographer as well.

- Justin has upgraded items around the house, and once he recovers from tutoring Mepiduana, will be going out and fishing/gardening - yes I'm using and abusing Justin as my slave utility sim. The following picture shows the starting gardening area and the family museum.

- Verb has entered the Art Appraiser Career and is currently at level 2 as a savvy scanner. She keeps on getting offered the chance to do street art around town (and she keeps on accepting the offers). She has supermaxed street art (her qualifying skill) and is about to start on painting. She is two masterpiece street art projects away from being street credible.

The current 'house'.

So, fellow watchers, who should be the father of generation 2? Goodwin Goode or Justin Kayes? And who should Amy get together with? There's a town of men out there with 'interesting' genetics! This is Twinbook, after all! Let me know your thoughts via PM or this thread.

Thank you for your comments @Trip, @Magpie2012 annd @CeresIn
After three attempts at posting this update, finally it is done! Not because it was difficult, but because I kept on having to leave for that silly little thing called work and life. LOL

I vote Justin, but just because Trip's Eight Cicadas has kinda ruined Goodwin for me lol and you could always take a page out of Trip's handbook and hook Amy up with Sinbad... They make really cute nooboos!

Le sigh. I managed to mess up here as well. :( I've decided i'm not going to post things in the future in here until I'm at least to immortal 4. My current attempt is through to generation 2.
