Mods - sorry in advanced if this kind of topic has already been said prior, please let me know. I just had a few questions and didn't want to put it on another thread that wasn't on the same topic. I also apologize if this branches out to breaking forum rules, I did not intend it to; I just want to hear the opinions of other forum-ers prior to making a decision. This may help others find a decision too.
I'm looking to buy another town or two from the store. I could go into a whole mess of things of what I like and what I don't, but I've decided to ignore my personal preferences in favor of something else - game longevity.
I have quite a few towns already, but I find very few of them are actually capable of being played for large, long files; files like a Dynasty I would like to do, or another legacy where I stay in one place this time - as you can tell based on my Legacy I have to town hop after a few generations just to keep the game going, and I understand that it all depends on computer specs and what not, but I just want to hear which towns of the ones I'm looking at I might possibly get the most longevity out of in gameplay.
The towns I don't have are Sunlit Tides, Lucky Palms, Aurora Skies, and Roaring Heights.
I would like to believe my PC is fairly powerful, but I have a decent amount of store content (I binged on that in order to not tempt myself with CC, as store content is less likely to have issues that would be game-breaking, or at least in my mind it doesn't appear to). Right now the towns that run the absolute best on my computer are Riverview, Dragon Valley, Midnight Hollow, and Appaloosa Plains (on a good day). Dragon Valley tends to be my go-to, as I love the town anyways, but I wouldn't mind mixing it up.
To give a benchmark for others, Sunset Valley (with all expansions that I have and stuff packs and store) tends to run slow after two or three generations. Isla Paradiso can only run for about 3-4 Sim Weeks before I can't tolerate the lag and Bridgeport is ok for a few generations, but I usually give up on it because pathing issues drive me nuts.
Anyways, I'm sorry again if this isn't an appropriate topic, I just don't want to make a purchase on a town that I won't be able to play in for a long time (as I've made that mistake before). If everyone who reads this wouldn't mind giving me pros and cons of each of the towns mentions (it doesn't all have to be gameplay, but knowing if a road gets buggy would be helpful).
To make this a more general topic, we can open it up in general to Store-Towns and which ones work for some and not for others, we can make a list of pros and cons so people like me can determine what store town is right for them before they spend money - of course keeping in mind that these will be coming from opinions of others and we may not all agree.
