General Hard/Software Sims 3 Related Question
« on: September 05, 2012, 12:00:22 AM »
I just figured out how to enable VSync in Sims 3.
What is a good indicator that I should enable Triple Buffering?

Edit: My FPS at most was about 20-25 last night when I ran it in my test game.

....
And just when I thought I had it figured out, the Catalyst Control Center which I have to enable V-Sync will not work anymore. I had updated my drivers and everything. Help?  I'm not getting any error messages other than compatibility ones,  which don't make sense as I downloaded the drivers using their driver detection tool.

I'm on Win7 64 Bit with AMD M860G with ATI Mobility Radeon 4100.

I realize this posting is over a year old but it was never answered - and on the off-chance that someone looking for this answer finds it on a google search (like I did) or the OP ever comes back again - here is the solution to this problem.

You need Radeon Pro.

  • Create a profile for the TS3W.exe file.
  • Under the Tweaks tab enable Dynamic Frame rate control
  • set FPS to 30 or 60 - I saw lag at 60 so I leave it at 30, can't see a difference quality-wise
  • leave vsync control at Always OFF
  • Enable triple buffering

CCC doesn't allow manipulation of Vsync.  You have to use Radeon Pro.  It is free, just google and you will find it.
