Having a Wedding off the Home Lot
« on: February 18, 2014, 10:28:24 AM »
My sim is getting married for the first time (18 days before her elder birthday) and I wanted to have fun with it and make it big. It's winter, so it would need to be indoors, and her home lot is to small for a chapel. They bought an additional home, which was just an empty lot. I built a chapel there. So my question is, can I have the wedding party take place on that lot? If so, how?

Is the lot a residential lot? You will need to make your sims move to that lot (Use the phone) and then throw the party like you would at home. If it's a community lot (Which, by the sounds of it, it isn't), you can call throw party at... . Hope this helps!

The only problem with having a wedding off your own lot is you can't place the wedding cake. I made a wedding chapel/reception hall, put the arch in etc. It all worked fine, except for placing a cake. It would be great for weddings if you could specify the actual ceremony at a certain lot, then after the wedding, specify your home lot for the reception so you could have cake.

You can buy the wedding cake at your home lot .then place it in your sim inventory.then go to the party at the community lot and place it there.

Wedding cakes might also be buyable at the grocery store, like birthday cakes are.

I think I read somewhere the cakes only work on home lots? One of my sims was getting married and I forgot about the cake, so did buydebug (as everyone was at the wedding already) and the cakes weren't in there.

We are going off topic, but I've had plenty of parties at community lots and used cake.

Cakes aren't in buydebug, they're in the Party tab for Entertainment items.  All you need is a table or counter at the community lot, move the cake to your sims inventory, and then drag it onto the table.
