Thanks!

How does age up work? I'd like to know so that I can get rid of the old timer before I'm stuck with him for 90 more days.

Open the cheat window, type in testingcheatsenabled true, then hit enter.  Now put your cursor over the Sim you want to age up and hold down the Ctrl + shift keys.  You will have options become available, one of which is age up I believe. The Grim reaper will appear and take your Sim off your hands.

You can also shift-click on the Sim to age up.  It will bring the Trigger Age Transition option, too.

Wow, I didn't know this topic was still alive! :O I haven't read anything of it since the bottom of page 2.
But it's hard to fish them out right now in the big sea of posts here. :(
I really wish there was a better way to organize posts here. Too bad I don't have any idea of how to do that.
Anyway: later I will read this through, for in case someone was asking me a thing.

Ohh, so that's what you guys had meant by age up. Interesting. I've never been too interested in cheats for Sims 3, sounds like it's worth a try though :). I think the only reason this thread hasn't died yet is because we/I went off topic LOL.

As we keep getting new members who are looking for something, older threads will get revived for a short time, until the next wave comes through.

I have another sim that is also being stubborn in dying.  I hate to do age transition on them, especially ones that I have made and played with for many months.  I get too attached, *looking over shoulder, making sure no one in white coats is behind me*. :o

Oooh thanks everyone ;D This thread was just what I needed. I have a elderly sim that is 220 days old!
He just won't die. I hate to do it but I'm going to have to kill him off. His oldest daughter and wife were young adults when I started playing the family and now they're elders and still he lives on!

Welcome to our Forum, Dreamweaver.  That's a very special name for me...  the name of my Legacy, for one.  :)

I'm guessing you play on the long setting to have an elder that's 220 days old.  That would be about 110 days on normal setting, which is indeed pretty old!

Like Solstice, I'd like to know if you ever managed to "kill" the Ghost, Leto.

I recall reading this thread a while ago, and I was going to post (but didn't because the thread looked dead) ... Leto, have you ever tried give the ghost a birthday cake and see what happens?

I've not tried that with an elder near the end of their life-span, but if everything's working (and it sure sounds like the Sim is bugged), I can't see why that wouldn't trigger the "death."

That's a joke.  ;)

I LOL at times on forums or in-game. I did there ^^ Metro! (it was the long pause / several returns that did it for me ... in comedy, timing is everything!)  :D

So Leto, what's the update with your non-ghost-sim who won't die ? Is he still alive ? If so, have you tried killing him in a fire like the others have suggested (seeing as drowning and starvation didn't work) ? I've recently experimented with how to start fires (in case I need it for future use in desperate situations) and found that walling up a sim in a 6x6 room, no doors of course, placing all sorts of furniture in it, then putting lots of firecrackers next to the furniture and having the sim light them up one by one until one catches alight is quite a good way of starting a fire. Oh and make sure that there's no fire alarm in your lot of course, you don't want the fire service turning up and finding out what you're trying to do ! ;)

Hmmm... but then again, if he's in ghost form (but not a valid ghost) I wonder if he'll actually catch on fire ? Interesting experiment, let us know the outcome please. :D

Hi Solstice, to answer your question, I didn't find the time to play the sims as much as I did before because of personal stuff that takes up a lot of times (positive personal stuff: moving to another house :D), but I have experimented by letting this sim die in different ways of deaths. But those didn't work (as expected) and I haven't saved it anyway, because I just don't like to play a SAW game in The Sims 3. I guess I play it like I am in real life or so.

My theory about this is that my sims somehow become something between a living sim and a ghost sim, with benefits of both (which are benefits for the sim only because his whole savefile become larger and larger the older he gets).

My apologies for the late response by the way. I must have overread your post.
