Loading screen stopping - common problem
« on: February 11, 2014, 03:00:34 PM »
I've looked and look for two days on how to solve this problem, and yet no know can give me a straight answer across the internet.

My game, up until I try to load a saved game or even start a new one, starts up fine. Makes it to the main option screen to pick a town and such. I select an option, or a previous game, and start the loading process. And wait. And wait. And wait. Only to have it never load. The total time I've waited is an hour and 4 minutes. And still nothing.

I've have tried most things that were suggested to other people.

> Clear cache in documents/electronic arts/the sims 3 folder and others that were suggested.
> Change your file to back up AND vice versa.
> I've change my compatibility settings on the expansions from windows 8 to windows 7, then to windows vista service pack 2, then back to windows 8.
> I un-installed everything, all expansions (every one except fast lane, WA, and katyperry's) and even the base game, and the reinstalled everything again.
> I've ran the game without custom content, without modification. Still not loading.

I'm running out of options here. I was playing the game perfectly the other day, and I saved and exited. No problems closing, it did it's thing fine. Went to start it a few hours later, and this started. Haven't been able to play it since. No updates on my computer to conflict, nothing newly installed. I just don't get it and nothing I try is fixing this.

Hi SapphyKins,

Quick thought while I do some searching on the problem.  Have you tried a factory reset?

Factory reset - Copy your Sims 3 folder to the desktop. Rename your current Sims 3 folder to something like Sims 3 Current. Click the Sims 3 icon to create a new Sims 3 folder. Then copy your game saves, files and such over to the new game to see if that helps. (This is different from a total-game reinstall)

This may not help with getting the game to load faster, but it helps clean up the system itself. Run a register cleaner program. (Something like Ccleaner, It's free -

This helps clean up temporary files, internet cache files and other files that are left behind that are no longer being used, after uninstalling.

Hmm... I'm stumped as for any other tips other than trying a factory reset and to see if any of the tips on this page will help.

Let us know if any of this helps?
