The Sims 3: Commemorative Edition
« on: September 07, 2010, 06:01:08 PM »
I saw this one floating by while surfing the internet and I was wondering if anyone of you know more about it. Is this a combined simspack maybe?

I think it's the same product as the Sims3 Deluxe in the States, Leto, only for what we call over here "non-US Markets."

(That link's to the US EA Store, it'll be interesting to see how many folks in Europe / other places can get to it without re-directs).

The base Sim3 game bundled with Ambitions.

Bundled with Ambitions. That seems nice. Handy for starters who will start with a nice expansion immediatly. I thougth I saw a few new exclusive items on the picture I saw on Google and that was what drags my attention.
Ever played The Sims 1 to? The item I was talking about was the egg form stair, which arives in The Sims 1 Livin' Large I thought. Looks like furniture from the '70's.

I've not seen much on either version (Commemorative / Deluxe) ... even the EA Store just has some mock-up looking cover art, and every place on the 'net (if it's mentioned), just has placeholder content as of now.

I've played (and own) all the Sims1 stuff, but my recollection's very hazy. Maybe I should install it all again and see what it looks like! haha

I think it is Deluxe for US and Commemorative for EU, I am not sure on the other countries like AU etc.

Heya Swede,

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with this product. I didn't expect Euro folks to be able to see the link.

I don't want to say it's "vapor," but it's not showing up at Amazon here in the US (and that's a good standard for the shipment date of any product over here) so I suspect as a product EA's not fully "locked-down" what they will / won't include with this bundle.

I do expect some physical ("In a CD / DVD box") something-or-other for Christmas 2010 release, we'll just have to keep watching.

I don't even see a link. May be my laptop because my avatar isn't loading also.

Well they've firmed it up a bit, and rather than include the link in a hyperlink I'll just paste it in ...

http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/store?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=ea&Locale=en_US&ThemeID=718200&Env=BASE&productID=201000100&resid=CA92jAoBAlYAAAKv0QsAAAAj&rests=1284151072679

While those long link strings are pretty much meaningless to us humans beings, you can usually look and figure out a bit about what's happening ... the "Locale=en_US" sets a "token" or maybe a cookie saying "This is only for the US English Site" ... Swede and I noticed a while back EA's pretty careful about how they preform re-directs for product, Leto, when I posted some store links that went off to assorted digital black holes. :D

He, he, that still redirects me to the Swedish EA store and I haven't found the game nor a way to change the settings to US. Call it a black hole if you wish. ;D

LOL, no I didn't mean it that way (that the Swedish store is a black hole!).

I just suspect there's some javascript going on behind the scenes of the browser that checks "region codes" or whatever term they use ("Locale=en_US") and "tries" to send you the "right place" (as determined by EA).

You could always "spoof" your location using a proxy server, but that seems like too much work to me. Only time I'd try something like that was if I saw some shiny stuff available that was "only" available to "Non-US Markets" ...
