My Sims can't use the Grocery Store!

Ok my sims can't go to the grocery store. I'll start at the beginning.

I got got some of the expansion packs out of order. So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled in the right order (Base Game, Pets, Seasons, Supernatural, University life). I also installed Lunar Lakes. I honestly never tried to go to the grocery store before I got Supernatural.  So I moved my saved (before the upgrade and reinstall). So when any of my sims go to the store to but groceries they just enter the "rabbit hole" and immediately leave. I also tried moving to Moonlight Hollow and Riverview.

BTW: All other stores, work just fine, including the Bookstore and Alchemy store. And in the grocery I can sell stuff just not buy.

I did a lot of searching before I posted here and I found out the problem could be a special seed or the store itself. I downloaded a new rabbit hole for all the stores. Didn't work for grocery store. Also I made sure that no one had any seeds in there inventory or house. I also got rid of every plant, vegetable and even the death flowers. And I also made a brand new family (in CAS) with 2 adults and a dog. They can't use the grocery store either.

I do have a few mods (about 90 items) and my downloads folder is about 2GB. My next step will  to back up everything uninstall then reinstall without mods or downloaded content. Start a new game/family and see if it works. If it does I'll slowly add in my mods and downloads to try and figure out what the problem might be.

I'm hoping someone has an idea I haven't thought of or knows of an easy fix.

EDit: could it just be the old save file I was using? After the new expansion packs I still used the old save file. And all my other "save as" are based on that one file.

I'd certainly suggest trying a fresh game before you do too much. It could just be a corrupt file.

Thanks. I didn't mention but I already tried moving the grocery store. Didn't work.

Instead of re-installing i backed up my Sims 3 folder in documents and I'm going to start from scratch. I was able to use the grocery store with a brand new family after resetting the game. Next I'm going to re-install my .sim3packs slowly starting with the worlds then moving on to items and mods.

The more I think of it the more i think it could just be the save file. Is there a way to export a family and there house out of a save file? I guess what I want to do is just import the families into another game.

I figured it out, after a very long time testing. It was one or more of my mods. I've narrowed it down to 48 various mods. I actually don't really need them. and if I do i'll add them one at a time and save often.

I want to thank you for your help though. I think it just helped to explain my problem. And finding the solution without having to reinstall the whole game saved me hours. If I ever figure out exactly what mod messed me up I'll post it here.

Glad you worked it out (to a degree). That's one reason it pays to add mods slowly so that if there are problems, you can narrow it down. Of course some mods 'break' with game updates and if that happens it can be hard to work out if you have a lot.

hmmm; I have that problem too but I fixed it by using Edit Town to copy Grocery Store and added new one in the town
