All my package files stopped working!
« on: January 01, 2014, 07:49:24 PM »
I registered on this forum to see if anyone could help me with this problem I have:

Up until today I haven't had a single problem with package files in my game. All my custom content was working perfectly! Then, earlier today, I was looking around for stuff to download and I found this website filled with dozens of amazing hairstyles for your sims! I downloaded a lot of them. I don't know how many, but trust me I got a LOT. When I was done with that I started up my game and noticed that the intro was playing, which was weird because I have the nointro.package mod. It wasn't until just this hour that I noticed that ALL my custom content was gone! Absolutely nothing is left. Did something I download screw it up? Did I put something where I wasn't supposed to? I really want my custom content back, so if anyone could help me it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :(

I removed the link to the custom content website, as linking to sites that provide CC is against our forum rules. I'm also moving this to the Game Modifications board, where questions about package files fit better.

Is Resource.cfg still in your Mods folder? Barring that, you could look for Delphy's Dashboard/Sims 3 Dashboard Tool on Mod the Sims (also can't link to it, but it's the first result in a Google search for "Delphy's Dashboard.") to see if there are conflicting or corrupt packages that might be causing the issue.

Sorry about that, and yes resource.cfg is still in the mods folder, I just checked. However, I also just noticed that it's in the packages folder... should I move it out of there? Also, what do you mean by conflicting packages?

Yes, Resource.cfg should be in the main Mods folder, not in packages.

Conflicting packages, well, I know that when mods conflict, it's usually because they modify the same part of the game and cause issues because they're telling one part of the game to do different things. With CC that's in packages, I'm not too sure of the causes of conflict. It's far more rare than mods conflicting, in my experience.

Turns out the problem was resource.cfg being in the packages folder instead of the mods folder. I have no idea how it got there, but I put it in the right place and now my game is working perfectly along with all the CC I downloaded. Thank you so much! I never would've noticed that that was the problem if you hadn't mentioned it. Thank you! :D
