My Plumbot lost all his trait chips!

I had a strange occurrence. One of my bots has lost all his trait chips. I was playing last night and had noticed that he wasn't cleaning up dirty dishes, but didn't really think much of it. I saved the game and closed down the game. Today when I fired up that game, I again noticed he was failing to clean up, even when I directed him to the plates, there was no option for him to clean up. So I got my Sim to check his trait chips and they were all gone, Sentience, Solar Power, Friendly Functions, Competent Cleaner and the Handibot trait. Not sure, but I'm guessing it to be some sort of glitch. Anyone else had this unfortunate bug?

I haven't had it but I'm sorry to hear it. You weren't around anyone who could have stolen them? We are able to steal trait chips from other Plumbots. Did you check everyone's inventories? I admit that's extremely unlikely they were taken and that this is yet another bug. My work has slowed a lot because of these and hearing of one like this that cost you so much effort is unfortunate.

Were you traveling back and forth from the future? I read it somewhere that plumbots lost their trait chips after returning from the future.

The first thing I did was check to see if anyone in the household had them, but no, not in anyone's inventory. My sims are usually very solitary and don't go out in public much or have people over. The only time I can recall this bot being out of the house was when he was running around catching nanites, but I was keeping a close eye on him, keeping his actions lined up until he got home.
I couldn't even replace the sentience as my sim hasn't quite learned that yet - she purchased this bot with it installed. I'm wondering if it maybe my home lot is a bit corrupt though as I've noticed a few strange things.. one of the beds can only be picked up with moveobjects on, and even then it can't be sold or even put in the family inventory, People say they will come over when invited and get out of their car, but they turn around and leave before I can even greet them (not all the time, but most of the time). I'm still playing around mainly just exploring new things to do, so once my sim has reached level 10 of bot building, I'll probably ditch this file anyway and start a new one.

I haven't heard that, but yes, not long before I noticed them all gone, Missy went back to the present time for a visit and even though I wanted just her and her new husband to go, all four household bots went too. I wonder if that was what happened with one of my gardening bots. I was sure that I had installed solar powered in both gardener bots, but I noticed one was still using the charging station quite a lot. When I checked, she didn't have the trait! I guess one way around that would be to remove their trait chips before entering the portal and replacing them after the time travel.

i had something even buggier happen.

i took my plumbot back to the present and he reset completely to an entirely different skin and no trait chips. was very annoying. hasn't happened since though.

That's pretty much what happened to my Plumbot yesterday. She was fully upgraded with 7 chip slots, had redesigned and renamed herself after I gave her the sentience chip and lost two trait slots and chips, went back to her old name and neither my Plumbot tech nor the Plumbot could adjust her chips or give her a tune up.

That is what screwed up my solar power chip too. Even though it was installed it just wasn't working. I ended up completely scrapping her after saving her skin and remaking her in the present. I haven't traveled with her to the future and I don't intend to. I'll just make a new Plumbot in the future, use it and sell it off before I return next time I go.

I changed the subject of this topic to say Plumbot. We need to be careful with using the correct terminology so there's no confusion between Plumbots and Simbots.

As an aside, resetting Plumbots through the console makes all installed chips vanish.

In my case, my plimbot's traits were all gone after resetting him.

I thought I was going to lose my favorite bot!  In the present day, he lost the option to tune himself up.  He only had phone related options, and none of my sims could click on him.  I read this thread and did not do a reset - thanks for the warning.   Took him to the future with my main sim to sell    but when they arrived, he was fixed!  Yaih!

Edit: Ok back to the present he has the same problem.  I got him the maintenance LTR.  Oh well.

Technically, this doesn't fix the problem, but basically, it does.

If you launch your game and click on the save you wish to enter, before doing so, I recommend using the "testingcheatsenabled true" cheat code. After use, enter the game and once loaded, go straight to the LTR tab. -(For either plumbot or sim!)- You can 'left click + right click + ctrl' on the treasure cheast until you have 10,000 LTR points. -(Sadly, you can't hold these keys down)- Go into the menu of different rewards, scroll down and purchase 'Trait chip bundle'. A box will appear in your sim's inventory and you have the option to open it if you click on it. -(It's like a Christmas present!)- You will receive a bunch of different trait chips, hopefully with the ones that you lost. If you don't get all the same chips, keep repeating until you do.

I had this problem once and remembered purchasing a bundle the other day. I used the cheat to get the LTR points in able to fix my plumbot.
