Can't go home after first term

Help! I can't figure out how to home in between terms. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought it would be like returning from travel but can't figure out how. I have my first term report card and everything.

There are a lot of people reporting the inability to go home from University.  If it's after Saturday and you're still there then your game has bugged out.  It may have been due to a phone call coming as you were supposed to leave.  It could have been anything.

Although when you say between terms - you don't mean between a double term right?   If you chose 2 terms on the enrollment window, you won't go home until the 2 weeks is over and then it will still be after 9pm on the second Saturday.

It's past 11.00pm on the Saturday night and I can't get home.  I think he may also have gotten a phone call as I read above, but then the car came, he had his suitcase in hand and the game went to the map view.  A script error showed up and the screen dimmed down.  Then all the icons disappeared and the character's panel went completely blank and now I'm stuck there.  I had done a save about 8.30 pm so I went to the main menu without saving and tried again.  Now the car doesn't come at all.  How is everyone getting around this problem and getting their sims back home?  Help!

This is his second trip to university and also there was no professor.  He passed and got his degree anyway.

I can't go home either!!!! It's really making me mad because if I drop out then all of my credits are gone!!!

Sims not being able to return home from University is a known bug. It happens for various reasons.

I haven't come across the bug myself. But did a search on the problem and found these two links with some troubleshooting tips to try.

Do you by any chance have a backup save-game you could go back to?
