Can't Create New Games (Solved)
« on: December 14, 2013, 09:27:53 PM »
Today I let/helped my brother create the characters from Homestuck in my sims 3 file. When he tried to place them in Twinbrook, on an empty lot, it did the weirdest thing.

-He selected the lot
-The 'Great! Now you can browse other lots or click here to start play
Ing right away!' Thing popped up.
-He clicked the check mark.

The check mark then turned gray, and so did the back button. However, the loading screen/plumbob did not appear. He could still click on other households/use the main menu/save/go into options; he could do pretty much anything except actually play.

He tried to select and play an active household; that didn't work either. He gave me the computer back, and I tried to place new families in other neighborhoods. All of my attempts ended up like his had.

Advice? Help?

First of all, try rebooting your computer. If that doesn't work, you may need to reset the game. There's a thread with instructions for that.

I'd suggest trying a factory reset as well.

Here's the link for that and/or instructions on how to do a factory reset.

Factory Reset: Fix Your Game with 1/4 the Time of a Reinstall
http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,7507.0.html

Factory Reset =

01.) Go to your Sims 3 folder.
 -- Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3

02.) Rename your current Sims 3 folder to something like Sims 3 Current.
03.) Click the Sims 3 icon to create a new The Sims 3 folder.

04.) Then copy your game saves, files and such over to the new game to see if that helps.

Also, something else that may help is to run a registry cleaner, something like Ccleaner. It helps clean up temporary files, internet cache files and other files that are left behind that are no longer being used.

I hope this helps, :)
