Is it possible to starve a Sim that I don't control?
« on: December 22, 2013, 11:09:44 PM »
I'm making a mobster who sometimes secretly kills, so I made a secret room and locked a sim inside. He can't leave.
I don't allow food inside the room, but he just doesn't die.

How long should it take to starve a sim that is not under my control?

If I remember correctly, it's supposed to take about 2-3 sim days to die. How long has he been in the room without food?

Three days, if the victim's hunger was full at start,  if it wasn't, two days. I've never done this myself, but heard it from a friend, who has tried. If it takes over three days, then I recommend that you'll check if there is any way he gets food, like that witches conjure apples and are hard to be killed this way. If the victim was a vampire or a merman, then you can just take the roof of the room away and sunlight will do it's job.

Sunlight will kill a mermaid? I thought it just turned them back into a human.

They can die of dehydration, I think they have to actually swim to stay a mermaid whereas just a bath or shower will keep them hydrated, I recently had my first death by mermaid, June Shallow died after spending all day behind the consignment register then she came home to the roaring fireplace in her house and passed out, her evil husband threw a party instead of reviving her with a bucket of water, my sim arrived on the lot the same time as Grim did else I might have saved her  :(

Fireplaces are probably a very quick way of dehydrating a mermaid actually, I imagine if they get too hot from the sun it will have a similar effect, not really played with them much myself and the ones in town only stay that way for a few days then revert.

Sunlight will kill mermaids by making their Hydration reduce faster, or then it is the temperature from
Seasons.

The turning back into a human effect is different and happens if a Mermaid hasn't swam in three or four days. It isn't related to sunlight or temperature.
