Tip for the Philanthropist wish
« on: October 25, 2013, 11:32:24 AM »
I tried this out last night with an existing sim, and discovered you don't need to win the lottery THEN donate the simoleans.  I had donated $20,000 before I bought the ticket, then donated $10,000 more before I won the lottery ($5,000), then donated the final $20,000, and it completed the wish.

Thanks for the information! I read from official forum that you can check present day lotto records in the future until a moodlet appears, then come back to win the big number and use that money to donate.
I haven't tried it but am thinking it's very useful for getting rich quick when starting up a new file...

Still exploring this EP. How do you check the results or buy a ticket?

In the future, go to City Hall. There is a tick to check old lotto results. Then go back to the present and buy a ticket at the grocery store. You find out how much you won later that night. I think the amount is random, because my sim won like $15,000 and someone on the forum said their sim won millions.

My sim is the one who won 3 million. She didn't buy the lottery ticket immediately, if that makes a difference.

You don't need to gain any information about winning tickets from Oasis Landing in order to complete this. My sim bought 10 tickets in the present day, won $100 and donated from existing family funds to complete it.

How does one donate?!

When in the present time, click on City Hall and there will be an option to donate to the Build The Future Fund. If you click on that, you than get a selection of different amounts that you can donate.

Just wanted to add that I've seen 2 X 50k wins, and a 1 million win on 3 different sims getting numbers from the future. I believe they were all at max adv tech when they got the tickets.

I think the amount they win is just random and doesn't rely on factors like their Advance Technology level. My sim just won 120,000 and she is only at level 3.

Oh and has anyone noticed the giant cheque they get when they win?

I had a ghost Sim check the lotto records and buy the winning ticket and two hours later, she got the check and won a whopping three million! I think I will have to ban this from my Queen Bee challenge - I was able to build a mansion on my little Shotgun Style lot.  ;D
I play The Sims 4 for fun, so I don't care if I never end up being interviewed for the Dynasty Hall of Fame; people who play for keeps burn out too easily and don't enjoy playing the games, so I am going to not sweat the details.

That's weird, at level 3 and seeing the payouts, you should win exactly 115k with that level of Advanced Tech, as it does affect the winnings as i put in the Lottery topic. If this was off, do let me know as I'm trying to figure this out :)

Carl, it could be something as simple as a trait or LTR affecting it. I don't know which or if any would for something as simple as a 5k difference, but that's sort of what it sounds like to me. I've seen similar numbers to what you have in the Lottery topic in my games.
