sharing food recipe

Hi, everyone. this is first time I'm writing something in Carl's forum ^^

To ask this, I was really kinda shocked how well this homepage was made.

So many things I didn't know which I pretty sure about things.

(Like Gym bug.. it freaked me out.. since I always sent my sim to gym... to raise athletic skill... lol)

Anyway..

I have question..

How sims share food recipe? Does it require one sim to have 'Natural Cook' trait or something else?

I have a sim who achieved criminal career's Emperor of Evil and old enough to die soon.

( I don't like sims living forever, so even though I can make ambrosia, I don't like to use it)

so, I like to let her daughter to learn cooking, and gardening, etc through tutoring.

It went well, but one thing is that,, I don't want to buy all that recipe books again for daughter to learn..

I found out that 'sharing recipe' interface exist, but just don't know how to activate..

They can talk about cooking, and else, but don't pop up that interface at all...

so, I want some neat answer about this. thanks for reading all this..

p.s) I think many people will already know about this, but Carl's Photograph sections didn't talk about this,

so let me just mention this.

If you complete 'Shutter Nut'-which complete 5 photo collection, You can use camera to take pictures with no charge.

(like about $45 to take best optined picture would be no more charge.)

Check this with your sims

The share recipe interaction is only available to Natural Cook Sims.  You can have her watch the cooking channel and she will gain many recipes that way as well as finding another Natural cook sim to share recipes with.  The share recipe interaction is only available 1 time per day.

P.S.  Welcome to the forum!!

Thanks!

Learning through TV Channel is way I didn't think about.

Anyway,, I'll lock her up in library and let her read all day long,,, maybe so boring thing for her though.

I have a few answers and questions myself about "trade kitchen secrets".

While playing Riverview and having the Crosby as neighbors I realized that "once a day" you could "share kitchen secrets" with the husband ( I forgot his name ...). Now I tried to experiment a little with  this and see what triggered it.
1. your sim has to be a Natural Cook
2. ask the husband Crosby about his career, and then enthuse and discuss cooking
3. and the share kitchen secrets appears.
4. this way you can share all the receipts (even the WA ones)

Now a few problems that I have are:
1. the inconsistency of this. When talking  to the Newbie wife I couldn't do this.
2. Twinbrook is just odd about this. Sometimes I can "share kitchen secrets" with all the Natural Cooks and sometimes I cant even unlock the interaction properly --> if I type the testingcheatsenable on, and then select the sim and choose "modify sims traits" and just click ok (without changing ANYTHING) share kitchen secrets works. And so I dont consider this a cheat, but just a reminder to the game that my sim is a natural cook too. You cant share kitchen secrets twice a day even if you do this.

Thank you for the welcome!

Now onto this topic again:

In Riverview "trade kitchen secret" with Odin Crosby(sp?) once every day --> it works 100%.

In Twinbrook "trade kitchen secrets" with Julianne Knack ( for me it worked every time I tried it with her. On the other hand Mary Baker was a fickle mistress, I couldn't talk to her about cooking without resorting to cheats.

And why is this so useful? Because you can save up to 20,000 simoleons by not buying the recipes from the store AND you don't need to travel to Egypt,China or France to learn their recipes.

Edit: After Julianne changed/quit her job I couldn't share kitchen secrets with her. So a requirement for this interaction is that the sim we are talking to has to be employed in the Culinary career and be a Natural Cook

Thanks Lucrezia!  I knew I could get the Ambrosia secret that way but did not know I could get the foreign foods!  All the specials I missed!
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!
