Meteor Showers
« on: October 30, 2013, 06:10:35 AM »
I don't recall having meteor showers in Oasis Landing the first time my Sim went to the future.  She went through all of the tasks to create a Dystopia and, of course, there were meteor showers every day.  But then when I changed it back to normal and then to the Utopian future, the meteor showers continued to happen.  It doesn't make sense that they would fall so much, especially in the Utopian future and I'm wondering if it's bugged.

It is a bug Pam.

Possible solution:

Quote
B. Use the Time Almanac to Trigger this Event and restore the future to Normal Future. This will allow you to keep your relationships and changes but remove the effects of Dystopia. When I did this, it was a quickly completed quest that then allowed me to travel to the future without having to deal with the meteor storms. When I did this, I traveled to the Normal Future, stayed overnight, traveled home and then used the Time Remote to trigger Utopia and then traveled to the future to enjoy it. I'm not sure that traveling to the future while it's normal is necessary to "reset" the future to it's proper state, but since I was having meteor storms both there and in Utopia, I thought it was best to go see if they were stopped in both.

I really hope EA are going to give us another patch for this EP and that they haven't all gone over to sims 4 now, the more people play it the more bugs are appearing.

Thanks, Turoskel.

As for abandoning Sims 3 in favor of Sims 4, I don't know how much longer they will work on developing Sims 3, but it's two separate teams that work on each game.  So, hopefully, we'll have our dedicated Sims 3 team for awhile longer.

My sim barely escaped a meteor in Oasis Landing.  She was just finishing up an opportunity and had walked out of the building.  She must have started going home on her own when it hit.  I haven't even been to the other two worlds yet or have  not gotten any opportunity to change anything.  I guess the meteor's are going to fall no matter what.  In fact, I have not even had a meteor in a very long time. :)

I've had several hit the Community Center while my Sim is sleeping and nobody dies.  I even had one land right on a child at the descendents' house and he was only scorched.  It's making me wonder if death by meteor doesn't happen much in Oasis Landing.

I've had a couple of sims take nearly direct hits in dystopia and only get singed. I don't know what would happen if a singed sim was hit again. The meteorites appear to be worth less, also-- under $1000 for a gigantic space rock.

Glad to know that there's a fix for meteors in utopia if you have the problem.

I've actually gotten some giant space rocks worth over $4,000.

I have the same problem - after I tried Dystopian Future I keep getting meteor showers several times a day in all other types of future.

The solution suggested above doesn't work for me. :(

This happens to me too. My house has been hit twice, starting fires... I have to snort a bit when the firemen tell the family to "be more careful next time"... yeah... sorry for our house bing in the way of a meteorite... ;) YOu could make a good living just picking the stones up, which seems a bit... well... cheat-y (especially as I seldom money-cheat and kinda like to have the extre challenge of having very little money in the beginning)

oh, the house that was hit was an available one in the city, if anyone wonders, on the "pier" thing...

Reset time continuum? I'm not sure how to help, but if a Sims is set alight randomly, even if they aren't in Dystopia, use the cheat code 'resetsim Simfirstname Simlastname'

Example: Resetsim Aurora Dean.

They will be returned to their normal self, but still appeared signed.
