Into the Future Outlands
« on: December 12, 2013, 09:58:16 PM »
I've noticed that there are families and homes outside Oasis Landing, which I call "outlands" that look "normal" or not modern. What purpose do they serve? Is there any back story to these traditional homes? I wonder why they were put there? Share your thoughts pls. Thanks!

They referred to it (in my English game) as the Wastelands. It's the area of Oasis Landings that is no longer viable. It was once an ocean/river/sea but it has dried up, possibly due to the dam installed by Oasis Landing? A lot of it is speculation but based on the opportunities I've gotten it is really supposed to be a desert area that no longer has the life that the center of the town does. Hopefully that answers your question!

Thanks for your reply. So that's the backstory of the Wastelands, still I wonder why people live there, makes me wonder too if your descendants happen to live in the wastelands, what have the "present" Sims done in their lives to have descendants live in the wasteland.

When descendants live in the Wastelands, it's because your Sims in the present haven't done much with their lives.  For example, when you first start a new game and your Sim doesn't have a job or anything, the descendants will live in a small house in the Wastelands.  As your Sim becomes more and more successful and rich in the present, the state of the descendants will improve.  There's a better house that's still in the Wastelands, then they start moving closer to the center of town.

I wonder what will happen when and if you upgrade the nasty looking grey homes then?  I dislike the look so much I've been improving the neighborhood by recoloring and sometimes changing different things without changing the initial value of the homes.  I also added a lot with a grocery store, school, and for my fairies, arboretum and vault of antiquity.  I used the buildings from Lunar Landing, (Lakes?), for the grocery store and school.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!
