Building Contests 2013: 19 - Setting the Scene

The Task:
Your task is to recreate a set from a well known Film or TV Series, it must be something that takes some skill to recreate and could be anything from a room to a mansion. The size and scale is up to you! You may pick a common room from Harry Potter, an Evil Lair from James Bond or maybe even a Period Drama dining hall? It's up to you to pick any other room, building or scene you can think of! You must remember about filming angles, where will the camera crew be? Lighting? Will you have it inside a bigger studio building?

Additional Information:
You do not have to recreate the Sims for that scene if you do not wish to. If you need to use certain objects not available in one Lot Type you can use any Lot Type you wish for this Contest. You should also only use 9 Screenshots, as one screenshot will need to be the actual set you are replicating.

The Story of How I Met Your Mother and What I Did in the Fall of 2013

Lot Type: Residential
Lot Size: 64x64
Budget: $64,171
Number of Bed Spaces: None
Content Used: World Adventures, High End Loft Stuff, Ambitions, Fast Lane Stuff, Late Night, Outdoor Living, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural,  Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Happy New Year '11.
Description:  Kids, back in the Fall of 2013, I created all of us, even Barney, in a game called The Sims 3.  You see, I had about given up on ever finding your mother.  So out of desperation, I recreated the apartment over MacLauren's from way back when your Aunt Lily, Uncle Marshall and I all lived there.  I might have been skirting on the brink of insanity, because I started wondering how well our story would do on TV.  I may have turned the apartment into a TV show set.  This is the real deal, kids.

Here's one of the photographs I worked off of with your Aunt Lily and Uncle Marshall:

And here's the Sim version:

There aren't any good representations of NYC in The Sims 3, kids, so I just put the 'set' in Sunset Valley.  I wanted to make our sim-selves feel safe, so it has a security booth and everything!

I even built areas for the staff of How I Met Your Mother, the name of our TV Show.  This is the first read table, and you can see how the rooftop scene would look in the background.

Barney still thinks he's my best friend, even in The Sims.

Craft Services, with a buffet, fortune cookie machine, and snow cone machine.

In a fit of truthfulness, I gave myself the "brooding" trait.  Here I am, brooding in the kitchen.

Now kids, this building might not impact the city skyline like my GNB building, but I like to think there's a certain je ne sais quoi about it.  Aunt Lily and Aunt Robin must agree, because they are both on the roof sunbathing.

I will have the downloaded set available shortly, kids.  I wanted to post this to the forum to memorialize for all eternity and before all of my massive amounts of formatting got messed up.

I agree with Ladybug, the winning entry was so close to the original. I am kicking myself for totally forgetting to provide the original photo for my entry. Oh well. Anyway, I have no idea what sitcom the winning entry was from as I don't watch tv and am not really into sitcoms, but I agree that it is very very close!

Ladybug - I actually really like your entry. It was instantly recognisable by the trademark yellow brick road, and I adore Toto! The entry is very beautiful and elegant.

I am open to feedback on my entry.

Thanks, everyone!  I had a blast making the set from HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother).  I kind of had it in the back of my head to make it for a while, so when the contest came up, I was super excited.  My favorite part is the horse poles as part of the security booth. :)

Ladybug, I really love your trees!  I have such a hard time placing them.  You did a fantastic job!

Neashaleigh, please excuse my lack of Doctor Who vocab!  I love your mis-mash of items to make the TARDIS mechanical stuff.  It looks awesome.  I can pick out some counters, but I can't even tell what the rest of the stuff is.  That's so cool!

I'm welcome to critiques, if anyone has any.
