Major Kira serves aboard the Deep Space Nine station in the Alpha Quadrant, newly under Starfleet command after the Cardassian Occupation of her home, Bajor. Part of her duties include being a liaison officer for the Bajoran Militia and explaining the customs and rituals of her faith to Captain Sisko, who has recently been identified as the Emissary of the Prophets in the Bajoran faith. She is known to yell at levels heard through several levels of the station and her friend Dax has taken it upon herself to get the young woman to have fun by introducing her to the holodeck.
As such, Major Kira understands the delicate nature of new worlds and cultures and has been elected by her Commanding Officer to explore this new world.
