Moving to New Town Within the Game
« on: September 13, 2013, 09:29:35 AM »
I'm trying to use the new feature to move to a new town for the first time.  I used the phone for real estate services, then chose Move.  I selected that I want to move to a new town and picked the town.  The loading screen appeared for a time, then when it opened to my new town, it acted like it was a brand new game.  It was giving me the option to select a family from the bin and if I clicked on the back arrow, it gave me all of the new game options (choose household, create a household, move in household).  Nowhere does it show that it's my family moving.  I thought it would open to give me the choices for a house or empty lot.  Have I missed something?  I didn't think we needed to save to the bin before a move like this.  Am I wrong about that?

You shouldn't have to save to bin. I have moved families quite a few times using this feature and it has always worked as it should. I have only had to choose a house to move into the same as a normal move in the same town.

Yes, you thought right, that's the way it should work, and if it doesn't, it's only because this in game moving-to-another-town is still new and a bit buggy. As far as I can tell from your description of the process, you haven't done anything wrong. And no, you don't have to manually save your family to the bin before moving, it's done automatically when you choose to move to another town. At least that's how it worked every time when I tried it. I can't speak for other peoples games though.

Thanks, both of you.  I'll try it again, and even try it with other files and see what I get.

The problem seems to be that I tried to pack the furniture.  When I did it again and sold the furniture, it worked fine.

Trouble moving household to new town
« Reply #6 on: September 19, 2013, 01:30:00 AM »
So, I just got the $20 expansion for Dragon Valley and I really want to move my household to that town. I've tried everything from copying my household to the library to choosing to move from the cell phone or computer. Every time I get to Dragon Valley and I get the option to select my household, they're never there. Just the pre-made families. I really don't want to start over with creating my characters, though I don't have a problem with rebuilding a house, as long as all my house items are still saved.

Has anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it? I'm getting really frustrated with it.

Hi there I have removed the poll from your post as it was not necessary.

Does your family show up in the Sim bin in any of your other towns or is it just Dragon Valley?

Snuck here even though I should be reading for my English test  ::)

Never move and pack your furniture if you have sculptures on your lot. Theyll turn into some odd big ice coins. If you have sculptures, i think you just have to copy your house with furnitures, then paste it to the new neigborhood and then put the family into it. Worked for me.
