Island Paradise and slow game

I have played Sims for awhile now and up until I installed IP my game ran pretty good. Now when I ONLY play in the IP world does my game lag, freeze, and not save properly. Does anyone have any tips, or can help me how to fix this. My computer hasn't had a problem with any other Sim game really until now. Thanks KDC
