Get Rich Quick in 6 ways
« on: November 26, 2013, 05:06:09 PM »
Hey y'all. We all want a rich household, right? well, here are 6 ways to get large sums of cash in the game.

1) the obvious way: GET A JOB. but remember this, Promotions get you more cash! To make Promotions easier, take a career that matches your Sim's traits. I usually have a Natural Cook in my household. So, naturally I take them to the Culinary Arts career track. it doesn't matter which restaurant you work at, it pays the same. Best success in this field means maintaining a good mood, good relationships with your boss and co-workers, and keeping your required skill(s) for the job high. It is really easy to progress in a career if your skill level at something is at 5 when the job in your career requires a skill level of 1.

2) be frugal!! this doesn't mean to have everyone in your family have the "frugal" character trait. it just means to buy cheap. Unless i start off with a sim that is a Natural Cook, i always select "have a quick meal" on my refrigerator. These meals are free and never run out! If you would like to learn a new skill at a discount price, select the newspaper on your porch that is brought by a paper boy/girl every morning at 9:15 AM Sim time. scroll down the options and select "check for discount classes" and it will tell you what class is discounted. the discount price is $350 while the normal class is $450. And overall, just buy the bare necessities for your sims when you are just starting out. a small kitchen, toilet, bathtub, bed, chair, and some sort of cheap entertainment. like a T.V. for example.

3) Sell stuff and/or get tips!! if you have fish in your inventory and/or produce, you can go to the grocery store and sell them for some cash. If you are at least a level 5 guitar skill, you can play for tips. Note, the higher your guitar skill after level 5, the more tips you will get.

4) two words, KARMA POWER. the karma power, "giant jackpot" grants your family cash. you will get anywhere between $5,000 to $15,000. but sadly it is not a karma power you will have if you are just putting the game into your PC or console for the very first time ever. that karma power requires you to complete the challenge, "home is where the simoleans are" (not sure if i spelled simoleans right). to unlock this challenge and get the points needed to purchase "giant jackpot" in the challenge rewards, your lot must have a value of somewhere around $36,000 to $50,000. i suggest just making a random sim, just one, and eventually slowly upgrading your house/lot with expensive items at random. Note: this karma power will ALWAYS be a karma power once purchased so you don't have to keep doing all the buying. i say to create just one random sim because it really won't matter, i just deleted the family once i bought the karma power and started a new one, so, in a way, that method is used to benefit future families. but everyone has their own methods of going about things.

5) just simply start off a game as a single sim and just go about your life and meet people. when you find out that someone is rich, you can go ahead and befriend them and eventually start putting the moves on them. when the time comes, marry that rich sim. they will move in with you as well as any kids they have. when they move in, they will bring a chunk of their riches with them. Note: if you find out that the rich sim has the "unflirty" trait, that sim may not be the right choice.

6) Spoot the Magic llama. to unlock him on a PS3, just pause the game and press down, L1+L2+R1+R2 all at the same time. this will open up a window saying that you have two choices, cheat and play fair and square. obviously, choose "yes! i understand let the cheating begin!" and a box will say that spoot will be in your "miscellaneous decor" in the Buy part of the Build and Buy window. go to the miscellaneous decor window and spoot will be the very first choice and he will be free, you will pay nothing for him. Put him anywhere on your lot. and in Live mode, select him. a scroll list will come up with the top two options being "Kaching!" and "Motherloade" and yes, i spelled those two correctly because that is how they appear in the game. "Kaching" will grant you $1,000 while "Motherloade" will grant you $50,000. you can press these options as many times as you want and there is no limit as to how many time you press it. I usually press "Motherloade" until i become a millionaire.

having a huge amount of cash in your family funds can do a lot. it can help you upgrade your house, lot, and the stuff in your house. as well as providing the joy of not having to work to earn your cash. which means that you will have a lot of free time to go out on the town and throw epic parties!! I hope this helped all of you new people to the Sims 3 game. Happy Simming!!  ;D

Good advice.  Sadly, you can have tons of money but you can't do a five story mansion fully.  I hate the fire code meter with a passion.  I want to be able to build a three story home or bigger and have it fully furnished, but because of the fire code meter you can't.  It should be up to you if you have your house crammed with furniture.  Plus, if your sim is handy they can eventually have items upgraded including fireproof so there you go.

The fire code is there basically to stop your console from exploding, though. It's funny, as I've recently switched to PC, and even though there's no fire meter, I find I decorate similar to the console, then I think "ooh, better not put anymore stuff in my house" lol.
