various problems stuck, disappearing, and other issues
« on: August 25, 2013, 09:26:50 AM »
I'm having various problems with my games, mainly one specific game but now showing up in other games.
Sims that are stuck and the reset doesn't work, one that have vanished when in other countries, no longer just China
One that appear but then disappear, in foreign countries.
Other sims vanishing, seeing objects move but no sims.  A pair of shoes and a book walking across the grounds at the festival, sim vanish then shows back up all of a sudden not just my sims but random ones.
Put sims on static and when they finish the assigned chore they just stand there and don't move unless told to do something else.  Example is Go take a shower, they go and take it, step out, do the twirl to get dressed and stand there until told to go eat, do so and then sit at table and not move until told to clean up.  Clean up and stand there until told to read a book, may read it standing there, or go to a chair and read, never sure what they will do.
Take it off static, and they start to move about on their own.  I don't remember this happening before I started to have these problems.

This was mainly in one game, but now has spread to another game, both project games and I'm not sure what is going on.  Are they related?

Anyone else having these type of glitches showing up?

What the heck is going on in my games?

If you mean that you made their needs static by shift clicking on the mailbox, then the same always happens in my game too. I don't think that's due to a glitch, it's probably meant to be like that. When all their needs are full to the brim constantly, they lose all their initiative and drive. That's exactly why I never make their needs static or switch off their free will, because both those options turn the sims people into lifeless motionless and extremely boring creatures. It's almost like looking at a still picture, and that's not at all fun in my opinion.

Janna,

Do you have any cc or mods?  Bad cc and mods can cause problems.  Try removing them.

Otherwise, check your saved games file for saves with .bad.  if found, delete them.  They are corrupted and they can affect other files.

If it is neither of above, do a factory reset.  Instructions are available in the technical help area.  http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,7507.0.html

I have used the static for testing; so I never noticed that they were so restricted in what they did as I was controlling them all the time.

I had used it in this family because three times I lost the game, twice because I didn't remember to save and the game froze on me, after three hours of playing.  Once was when I had sent my sim to China and she disappeared, goofed and saved it and then had to go back to an earlier save, which had been quite some time back.
So, put them on static to catch up to where I had been.

@Wai,

I don't have mods or CC, so that can't be the reason.  The one family, which had the sim stuck, she is now free, tried moving the family and then sent them back to the house, it worked this time.  Have tried it before with another problem and it didn't work, so wasn't expecting it to this time.
I did the cleaning of the cache, DCbackup, followed the instructions here so that could  have been the reason it worked this time.  But, still can't send them to a foreign country. Never had it before I installed IP, so wondering if that could be the cause, but don't see how, really.
Won't know if they will continue to disappear or if other sims will continue to disappear as I played less than half an hour, testing to see if my sim was free and would stay free.  Crossing my fingers she won't get stuck again.
