Can't install some expansion packs

I recently installed Sims 3 on my computer and it all worked fine. I then tried to install the Late Night ep and it says "this product requires an installed copy of the sims 3. Please install the sims 3 before installing this product".
So I uninstalled and reinstalled it but the same thing happened, I then tried to install Adventures and it worked but then also had the same problem trying to install Generations. I have since played the game and everything there is working fine so it is definitely installed properly.
I have made sure everything is updated, Sims 3 is version 1.55.4.022002, Adventures is 2.17.2.011032
My computer is operating on Windows 8 and I have used these games successfully before on another computer on Windows 7 so I know they can work together.

Welcome to the forum, Jumk.  This reminds me of a problem I had recently when I was reinstalling my game and was unable to reinstall some of the items I had purchased as downloads/digital version.  Origin wouldn't let me download them because it said they weren't compatible with my base game, which is the disc version.  What version is your base game - is it the disc or download?  What about your Late Night?

They are both disc games

Have you tried to play the base game without the expansions?  I am really only speculating, but, my thought is that the base game may be corrupted.

Yes, well I haven't played the base with no expansion packs but I have with played it several times with adventures installed and everything has worked fine

Sorry I can't be more helpful, I don't own late night or generations.

I did have problems similar to this though with my showtime.  I installed it and it seemed to be fine, but I was having a lot of glitches and decided to uninstall and re-install everything.  When I got to showtime I had this problem.  I contacted EA and they asked me to send the disk back.  They confirmed it was faulty and sent me a replacement.  However, as you are having problems with two disks, it seems unlikely that this is your issue.

If no one here has any better suggestion, I think you should contact EA for advice.

ok thanks, I might wait a bit to see if anyone else has any ideas and them get in contact with ea. By the way what route did you go down to get in contact with them?

I called the number which is on the inside of the leaflet which comes with the game.
