Wild horses
« on: August 15, 2013, 10:55:10 AM »
So, the house most recently shared in the building showboat thread is actually the one I built for my most recent attempt to play the game. I thought I'd chosen a good place for it: nice location, large yard, etc etc etc.

But then this happened:

Every day while my sim is at work, the horses charge through her yard, up to her front door, and stop. After a while they back up and run off, but it's pretty much an every day occurrence. I figured I built her house through one of the set routes the horses take, shrugged, and went on with my game.

And then this happened:

Which, while amusing... That could get old, fast. I don't want an angry horse getting stuck in my walls. I don't want to have to reset it every single time.  Is there anything I can do, aside from moving her house?

Something you could try if you haven't already is build a fence around whatever area you don't want horses in. If it has a gate, keep it locked to family only. It works to keep zombies from spawning, so maybe it will keep horses away.

I think you need the "Stampede Stopper" fence and the "Farm Country Gate" to keep wild animals, including horses out.

Fence or no fence, they shouldn't have ended up inside my house. Because that's where it is. Its booty is chillin' inside her garage.

And that's the part that's bugging me. They can run through her yard all they want, so long as they stay out of her garden. It's showing up inside that's the problem.

In this unpredictable game, many things that shouldn't happen, still happen. I don't like to have wild horses roaming around everywhere either, so I let one of my sims catch them and then call animal adoption service and ask them to come and get it. If you have one of the 2 rabbit hole horse centers in your town, you could also take them there, by riding or leading, and sell them for some easily earned money. :)

If you have Story Progression switched on, try switching Horses off, if you haven't already, to see if that makes any difference. I always play with SP off, so I don't know for sure if this has the desired effect or not. Maybe some of the other forum members know more about that, and can give you a better answer.

That's happened to me a few times, but after I reset them they don't usually do it again. Other than putting a fence up or turning off wild horses via 'Advanced Demographics Options', you could try putting up the wildlife gnome and change it to repel wild horses. Hope this helps!
