A serious error has occurred while loading 'bridgeport. sims3'it is strongly recommended that you restart the application". I exited the sims and tried again, same thing. Restarted the computer still the same thing. It hasn't worked since. I have not tried a full reinstall yet as I have noticed from the other threads that it doesn't seem to work. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

If I uninstall, will I lose my customized EA content (ie, clothes and furniture I have redesigned? NOT 3rd party content)

I have backed up my saved files already... will I be able to access them once the game is reinstalled?

Hi Purenergy,

When I got this "a serious error has occurred" message, my game was corrupted due to a crash while saving. I only got that error with that one save file, so there was no reason for a reinstall, as the problem was that save file, not the game itself. Did you try loading your other files yet? If you get that with all files, I guess you have to do a factory reset and if that does not help, a complete reinstall.

You will have to install your store content again after factory reset / reinstall. You can use your saved games again if you store them somewhere and then place them back to the 'Saves'-folder, unless they are corrupted which might be the case here.

In case you have not read these threads already: There are stickied threads on this Technical board about factory reset and re-install... Also if you have this problem with only one game file, see the sticky about back-up files.

Thanks Noodles, I managed to correct the problem. I went back into a save that was uncorrupted, saved the household and the buildings I had created to the library then removed all the corrupted saved content (I suspect it was a corrupted Sim I had recently imported from an earlier game) and started a new game. I then place my buildings and my household back into the new city and voila! I saved my household and the buildings, so all I lost were the relationships with other townies.

Its kinda fun playing it now, they get to re-meet all the friends they used to have, but they are much younger. One of my sims married an AI created Sim and he just met his teenage self... his daughter was flirting with him, lol.

Very grateful I do not have to start from scratch!

Hey Noodles, What did you do to fix your issue? I think I might have the same problem
After I made a house from scratch I went to save and my computer completely crashed.
When I turned it back on and went into the game, my save game with the house had the "A serious error has occured" message when I tried to play it.
I've looked everywhere for help and no one I can find has this specific issue with the error after the crach during save, HELP! I spent all day on that house and I would really rather not have to start all over. :(

I have the same problem, and would like to try renaming the files, but I had renamed my game, and now I'm not sure how to rename the files. Do I still use the 'sunset valley' or do I use my own name for the town (fantasia) ???
Please help, as I'm missing my game so much! Thanks.
