What are these dynasties/challenges ?

Im getting bored with Island Paradise.Even though I havent done much with it.And I wanna do them.But I dont know what they even are.Explain please ?

Project Challenges can be found on the project stories board.
Tournament Challenges and Dynasties can be found on the challenge board.

I would suggest reading all the rulesets and then picking one to ask questions about.   Questions for the tournament and dynasties should always be in their respective threads.


Definitions:

A project is a player submitted challenge that has been approved and stickied on the projects story board for players to try out.  They are separate from the Hall of Fames and the tournament we hold.

The tournament is a series of challenges set up by Metropolis Man that members can actively participate in. They have start dates and end dates and there is a World Ranking for participants over the year with prizes.

The Dynasties are generational games thought up by Metropolis Man with specific rulesets.  Each one is different and appeals to different kinds of people. Completing one of these within every boundary of the rules gives you a spot in our Hall of Fame.


Also don't forget the ever popular Legacy Challenge and all of it's variations.  It's also a generation game but there is no Hall of Fame, not exactly up to date with expansions for rules and a lot less restrictive.

But what is a mod ?

I know the cheats but I dont know what that is.

A mod is a modification made to the game by somebody other than EA. They don't ship with the game and have to be downloaded separately. They aren't allowed for Dynasties or the Tournament challenges, but are usually fine for Legacies (since Legacies are less restrictive than Dynasties). There's a whole sub-forum devoted to mods, so if you have any specific questions on them, you'd want to ask them there.
