Why does the shark disappear when it says examine shark ?

I have given up on trying to find the mermaid island for now.

Its really hard and everything I don wont work.


So now Im doing the island when you have to do all these task like fighting a shark.

I have lots of meat in my inventory.I go down and watch the shark.Then it goes to examine shark.But then the shark just disappears.

I have no idea what to do.Or whats going on.Help ?!
