Perfect for a mermaid couple, and with room to expand for a family, this lush oceanfront property boasts a beautiful pool, a soothing hot tub, a scenic waterfall and an abundance of coral to help merfolk feel comfortable on land. The house is based on a sand castle design, but decorated with a modern touch. The interior colors echo the coral outside.I wanted a lush, fantasy feeling for this mermaid build, so I went wild with the coral, flanked the main entry with seahorses, and created a sparkling, turquoise pool. For the house, I was going for a sandcastle look. The interior decor is designed to be simple, to contrast with the abundance outside, but I still wanted to give it a mermaid-y feeling -- so there are lots of seashells, nautical touches, an accent of kelp leaves in the kitchen, etc.
There is a telescope in the detached tower and a bookshelf on the main floor. There's also a TV, desk and kitchen with counter seating. Upstairs there is a double bed, dresser and sofa, plus a small bathroom. The upstairs is currently an open loft with a glass wave half-wall so you can see down below. Adding floor tiles to the rest of the upper story would allow for expansion into a second bedroom, studio, or whatever you need.
(To build this lot, I demolished Crystal Waters Beach (downhill from Castillo de Ichtaca, in a horseshoe shaped cove) and placed a 40 x 40 lot extending into the ocean. The lot was centered in the cove, and placed as far up onto the beach as possible. Depending on exactly where you situate your lot, you may have to adjust the slope of the terrain into the water to match it up with the surrounding land. The terrain paints should blend seamlessly, no matter where you place it.)
