My witch sim won't play with magic

I've played this sim for some time now without any problems. But all of the sudden when I want her to "play with magic" she will do so for about 1 or 2 seconds and stops. As a result, she's not leveling up. Has anybody else had this problem? What can I do?

Do you have a preferred wand in your inventory?
Reset her with 'resetsim', that sometimes helps with problems.
Maybe try turning her back into a human (by potion) and turning her back into a witch via the witch potion. I hope this helps!

Don't use CAS - there a problems with changing lifestate in CAS. If you're going to try that, do it by a potent cure potion, and then drinking a witch potion.

Okay, thanks Chuckles_82 I didn't know that. I don't usually mess with changing supernatural types and thought the option in CAS worked .
