I have had difficulty patching my game in the past. Sometimes it works through the launcher, other times it doesn't. I had two simming computers, one is a desktop[where I always have to patch it differently. And a mac laptop, where I have been able to update through the launcher] So, I've been trying since the Update 1.55 came out to patch up my game[on the laptop], I first tried it through the launcher. It loaded fine, and then when it was finish, it said you need to reinstall. I hit okay to dismiss the pop-up, and was able to load my game and there weren't any issues, or any of the new stuff the update added. But I still had all my files and families. I then tried using other patches that you download off the internet from the sites that offer them. None of them worked. So I figured maybe the mac update isn't out yet[i play on a mac book pro] Then, today, I thought I would try to patch it again. So, it loaded, and I thought maybe it might just work. Then it started patching files, and then the pop-up came up, saying you need to re-install. I hit okay like I did last time, and just loaded the game and started it up. Everything was normal intil the screen where you choose the family you want to play. It looks like a brand new game, no save files, and no store content worlds. I shutdown my computer, to see if they would do anything, and it didn't. I started up the game, and in the Launcher, there is nothing under Installed content, or under downloads. So I went searching for help, because I started to panic. It said you change the file names, because when this sort of thing happens, it usually means the file is corrupted, like it ends in .bad or whatever. But all my files end in .sims3, so I don't understand what went wrong. I have all the backups for my important files, but I don't know how I get those into the game. I am kind of freaking out right now, so if anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I have the Sims 3 base game digital, and most expansion packs on disk.
