Did I mess up Grim?

Grim called my sim and asked her for a date, he became her boyfriend. After their second date she asked him to move in.
 I just had a stray dog die on my property and everybody just stood around waiting for the dog to ghost but it never did. Everyone had mourn cued up but no one mourned.

I tried to move Grim out so he could get back to work, but the move interaction said not allowed to move at this time.

How can  I get Grim back to work?

You have to start a new game.   You can save Grim and your Sim into the library bin using Edit Town but no one can die in your town without a Grim.

Thank you very much.   If you ever want to play the reaper again, don't forget to save him to the Sim Bin in the old game.   Or start a new game, kill someone then add him to your family to save him.  You just can't steal the active one in a game without consequences.
